LOOKING FOR PALS BACK TO ATKINS
This is probably one of the hardest things I have to admit. March 2002 I set out on a mission. I was 259 pounds and miserable. I started Atkins and never looked back. By December of that year I was at 169, dropped ten sizes to a 12 and felt awesome. My journey was amazing and I couldn't imagine ever going back to the old uncomfortable me. I kept the weight steady for 6months then I had a tragic event happen in my life. I had to continue with life, support three kids, keep up a full time job and continue my part time classes. For appearance sake I looked like I was handling it but inside I was falling apart. The weight started coming and I tried to get back on atkins a few times but gave in. I became depressed and began that viscous cycle I had known many times before. All the while appearing to be ok. I stopped weighing myself and believe sometimes just ate and ate out of anger and self pity. In December of 2003 I was back to 250's and had to buy new work clothes because I had thrown all those old ones away. I spent a month in denial but on January 16th made a commitment to myself to be the person I know I am.
I am looking for someone (s) that are commited and would like to share support. Tammy

Would really enjoy being your pal
Hey Tammy3,
While I never have tried Atkins before, about 5 years ago I had lost about 60 pounds, but then got a new job, moved, my daughters started a new school, and it just seemed I had no time, energy or desire to stay on it. But here I am now determined as I can be. I would love being your buddy, I don't think anyone could have too much support when your trying to change your WOL. ![]() |

wow,
we have more in common than you think. The tragic event I spoke of had to to do with my husband. He was also diagnosed as bipolar. He had a total breakdown and left. He dropped out of site for almost six months and is back and has had to have intensive therapy. We are still seperated but have become close again. We had been married for ten years when he began his mood swings. We were headed for divorce before all of this occured. He is back in our children's lives and is doing a lot better. Sometimes I think I ate just to get back at him for leaving and for me not thinking he was strong enough to be there. I know I have a lot of work to do on myself now and I need to change the outer and inner me. I am also exercising 3-4 times a week and am really commited to this. tmstraps@aol.com look forward to hearing from you. |
