Just didn't want you to be alone here in February Susan

A challenge??? How about Leslie stays away from the flat bread challenge???

OK I'm gonna do it again... if (and I stress the "IF"), if the scales don't play with me tomorrow I will have lost 6 pounds in January!!! Keep your fingers (and toes, and eyes, and legs, and arms and anything else you can) crossed that the dreaded scale leaves me right where I am tomorrow morning so I can legally claim the whole 6. I think I'll stay on the '72 plan for a bit longer

We will, we will ROCKy YOU !!!!!!

The Artisan Flatbread recipe is in our recipe thread....

Can you say... deep dish pizza??? I think this recipe may just "tweak" to include pizza dough. Hmmmm something to think about.

SIX POUNDS???!!!

That's great! I'm so happy for you, LadyT- I am STILL stuck- just can't seem to budge since LAST aUGUST, which is why it is hard for me to think of a good challenge- I'm doing everything I can think of to do already. Maybe I need to go on the Survivor plan of raw fish, coconuts and boiled rainwater...Speaking of which, are all of you who care aware that the ALL sTAR survivor series starts tonight? Anyone you wish was included that isn't? I don't think any former winners should have got onother chance at it- maybe they will be voted off first. Too bad Deena or Elizabeth were not chosen. Well, I better get back to the pulled pork I am making for tonight, so we can eat before the game. LAter!

I'll second that!

I agree with Scobee - Great going Lady Texun. 6 Pounds. That is fabulous. Between you and Lazy being on induction, it sure proves that it works. However, I can't seem to stick to true induction.

And wow, Scobee, I didn't realize that you haven't lost since August. Me nither. Well, not exactly, I have lost and gained the same three pounds over and over again, but no real loss since August. How about me and you do our own special challenge?

Again, not sure what it will be other than the goal to loose.

Well, got to go get ready for Sunday evening mass. Our church has a 6:00 PM mass. I love not having to rush in the morning. And it puts a nice relaxing end to the weekend. Well, I will go pray for a loss. Maybe even light a candle for us, Scobee.

Late Losers

Well I'm going to officially claim 4 1/2 of that 6 pound loss 'cause that's what the scale said this morning. Still.. 4 1/2 in one month, at least it's not a gain!!!

Hi guys- Happy Monday! I decided that for my atkins Anniversary I am just going to start all over- this time with no exceptions. Today I went back on induction- have had 14 carbs and 60 oz. so far- plan to just pretend I am doing this for the first time and maybe that way I will really stay at a low level of carbs for at least two weeks. I also had a good workout this AM- cardio and strength. Tomorrow I will do abs and yoga.

LadyT- 4 and a half pounds is still wonderful progress, no matter how you look at it- hadn't you been stuck for a while too? Keep on inspiring me- the new recipe looks great- guess I have to wait two weeks to try it...

Super- If you want to start all over with me maybe that could be a challenge for us? I know it isn't really doing that much different, but for me sometimes what i call things, or how I think of them makes all the difference in how effective I am at actually meeting the goals I set...

Did anyone see Survivor? It is being shown again on tuesday, I think...did anyone watch the halftime show for the Super Bowl? I must be getting old- seems like they used to have better music...Later!

Hi everyone. Hope you are having better weather. Ive been offline for a couple of days as we have had lots of big thunderstorms so I keep the computer unplugged. Its hard gong cold turkey not having you guys to chat to and keeping me on the straight and narrow. Though, I lie, I could have posted Sat and Sun but we went to the beach both days No surf flat as but did some wonderful snorkelling around. Have decided that Im very weird. Im swimming around being amazed at all the beautiful marine life and then I see one big fish and go YUM boy I wish I could eat him YUM YUM YUM. Obviously no wildlife is safe near me. But I thought Id get in early today and yup it was sunny when I started reading and now its come over overcast again.
Scobee – Honestly we have had sooooooo much tennis and cricket that if we see another person with anything in their hand other than a rugby ball we are going to scream. One of my friends went to the Sydney games but said that the rounds were pretty boring so he would only go for the finals next time. -Taped superbowl yesterday but we get the direct feed without the ads which I think must be part of the fun. Instead at every ad break we get some dumb aussie trying to impress us with his knowledge of the game. Settled down to watch it last night and then work rang Rats!
I need snow. Of course I need it complete with the smiley blond guy.
Zukpr – I so know what you are talking about. I accidently fell into a dress shop and accidently put 2 tops that I don’t really need but want on layby and was explaining why I was buying the smaller snug fitting size. The shop assistant was on weight watchers and had lost 15 k’s but had put back on 10. I thought I was really good and just made her aware of how easy Atkins is and how much Id lost and I always talk about how much LD has lost . I was really happy to try on a pair of pants there and find that a size smaller fitted. LOL The wonders of stretch fabric. But by the time I pick up that layby I want to be thinner so bring on the challenge.

Im being good just a bit lazy about adding up my carbs and still have the caffeine thing going.

The building is an supposed to be an investment that eventually we hope to live in as its much nicer than our place. The way its going we should have put wheel chair ramps in.

I would love to see the interview LD

So glad about the 4 1/2lbs Lady T. Wish I had done so well. I have a couple more to shift to get back to prechristmas but am having the TOM from hell so wont weigh. I know how much blood a human body carries. All I can say is Im obviously not human or Id be dead.
Who have I missed, Susan, Crittema anyone else hope you are all going well. Will be back tomorrow all being well
Kathy

hAPPY mONDAY!!

Wow, i've missed alot.

Congrats to Lady T--awesome. 4 1/2 pounds all in one month....you must be thrilled!

Got the results of the Pet scan. Inconclusive. It's looking like it was a waste of $3,000. They are no further ahead. So it's either surgery to remove the small lump in her right lung to see if it's cancer or make the decision to go straight into chemo and radiation. Really tough decision cause we really don't have any good factual info to base it on)(*)(*. So we are going to see the oncologist and the surgeon and see if we can get some help making the decision. Really disappointing.

Then....she wakes up yesterday and her eyes are swollen shut. Don't know why. I hardly recognized her. You can't even see her eyeball they are so swollen. Took her to the specialist today and he is at a loss. She looks like she has been beaten. Poor thing just broke down and cried. She is soooo frustrated.

It's weigh in for me tomorrow. I did sneak a peak on the weekend and was pleased to have 181 flashing back at me. What can i say--induction works...

Now having said that......i cheated on the weekend. Had Vodka and sodas. Didn't have too many but man was i sick. Started puking at about 5 am and spent the day on the couch nursing an awful headache. Was so hungover all i could eat was.....drum roll please...yup, those nasty homeade french fries!!!! And they were dahm good!

So it was back to induction the following day and i'm happy to report that my stix are purple again.....whew, that was close.

I think i may take another break with the alcohol. Just not worth it...and obviously i can't hold my liquor any more.

Had a reunion with some old co-workers. Haven't seen alot of them since 1996. There were a few dropped jaws. One guy kept going on and on about how thin i was. I have to laugh; first time i ever remember as being referred to as thin! I kinda liked it! The last time i saw them i was much heavier and my hair was about an inch long.....i was voted the 'most changed' out of the group. While most had either lost hair or gained wieght....i lost weight and gained a whole lot of hair!!

Of course the girl who slammed the whole program when i talked to her about 1 1/2 years ago didn't say a word. Didn't acknowledge not one lost pound. I guess the 150 extra pounds that she is packing on her 5 foot frame may have something to do with the silence. Sad really cause i know i could help her and i know that inside she is suffering; i can see it in her eyes. Zukpr i know how you feel. I want to help every fat person i see. And i mean that in the nicest way.

Scobee-try induction and i hate to say it....try limiting your workouts. Just for two weeks and see if it makes a difference. I found that when i changed up the exercise...ie a little lighter of a schedule, that it seemed to help get things moving...and of course TRUE induction is where it is at when you want to lose.

For those that really want to change things up for February...how about trying induction for 2 weeks and OWL for 2 weeks and see what happens. I bet 2lb lost would be easy to reach. It's really all of pysching yourself up for that 2 weeks of induction. It's only the first few days that are really hard; the rest can be overcome with a little bit of food planning.

So that is what i'm gonna do. Induction until Valentines Day. Then i'll swing over to OWL to give myself a few more choices.

Survivor aired here last night. Should be interesting. I just wish Richard would put his clothes back on! And i agree the old winners shouldn't be on. They are just too easy of a target.

And the superbowl half time was a huge disappointment. And tasteless. I think everyone has a right to be upset with what Justin and Janet got up too. Not too cool when you think of how many children were there or watching the, parden the pun, boob tube...lol. Tasteless.

Off to cook some supper. Grilled chicken w/rosemary, broccoli, and salad and of course a little side dish for the non lowcarbers of this household.

Funny story...Norm and I went out for Sunday brunch yesterday. Got back to the table and started to eat when Norm burst out laughing. He says to me....take a look at my plate. At which point i burst out laughing. His plate was piled high---and there wasn't a carb to be had...lol All meat, eggs, low carb veggies and cheese. Gotta love that guy! And i do.

Gotta go.

Later losers.

Ok Northerners--Lady T-burning up the kitchen rather than the cigs, eh?Try, Try, remember the hint--, thanks for the flatbread recipe, it looks tasty!

Hi guys- I have made it through most of another induction day, I'm happy to say- and I think I can make it till Valentines Day! If we can get a sitter, we have been invited to a formal dance that night which will raise money to fight heart disease. Have not seen dh in a tux since we were married, so I hope we can go! Got a lot of exercise today- did aerobics and abs this AM, took the kids ice skating for the first time (I had not been since before they were born, so you would have laughed to see me wobbling around trying to help them but they did pretty well) and then shoveled the drive of slush when we got home. FitDay says I have burned half the calories I ate today!

Critterma- glad your new job is going so well , good to hear from you!

LazyD- I thought the PET scan was to show you if the cancer had spread all over the body- sounds like they didn't see that, so maybe it is a positive result in a way. There is actually a new kind of scan that combines PET and CT at the same time and may be better at showing whether small masses are cancerous, but not very many places are doing it yet- MSU here was the first to get it in the world, and that just happened last summer. The toughest part of all this is to see the postive side of things- i can only imagine how hard that must be. Hugs to you both((( )))

GreenGal- glad you had fun snorkeling- have only done that a few times but loved it- we even put fish tiles in the kids bathroom! Congrats about fitting into that smaller size!

Hang in there everyone else- later!

Scobee Thanks I would love to accept the congrats on the smaller sizing if it wasn't for the fact that I'm sure the pants werea mutant sizing and had masses of stretch in them . So it doesn't really count. But it sure made me feel good.
Did a tough gym class today and was feeling like I was doing great guns until I looked at the 70 y old next to me who was cruising along. Rats. I know I should only worry about myself and self improvement but I guess its justa bad habit.
What else is news. nothing much. I prepared a traincrash for lunch today. I really wanted something pizza-ish and was really hungry and the salad monster had been and gone taking all my prepared salad and left the empty container in the fridge ( I'll get him) . So I threw pepperoni bacon mushroom into the frypan and covered it with eggs, oregano and grated cheese over the top. It didnt flip too well thus the train crash, but as long as I didnt look at it it was great. Still being too lazy to count carbs. Seems like if I stop to work it all out I dont get moving again and the day just disappears and I havent done anything again. Had a little oops last night one sthncomfort at the pub after touch turned into 4 came home very nibbly but ate the right thing but just had to have that extra serving of locarb icecream with syrup which would have blown me out to about 30 carbs for the day roughly.
Whoops have to go that was work on the mobile so have to go and organise things for tonight.
Hope the weather treats you all kindly.

Hi All.

Congrats to all who have been faithful and losing weight. This has been a real difficult thing to get back into. I don;t understand what is going on. When I watch the carbs I can't get the body back in ketosis. However when I cheat ( and I mean CHEAT), I lose 2 #s. Then I go back to induction and gain 3 #s. Please help me!!

Lazy D - So sorry to hear about your mom. Doesn't insurance pay for this test? How come the Dr.s aren't being more helpful? Have you thought about a second opinion and/or Dr.? My thoughts and prayers go you and your mom.

To everyone else hang in there and I am up for any suggestions anyone may have about the terrible complexities I am encountering.

I personally find that getting a hair cut and shaving my legs helps unequivocably with my induction weigh-ins.

Sign me,

Those evil scales they must be relatives of mine. I felt sure after being sooooo good yesterday and doing what felt like a huge gymclass yesterday and then working last night and TOM slowing down, that i would have lost at least 2 K but NO if anything its thinking about flickering up .5k Argghhh. I should be ggod like LD and not look at them for a week. HA! Compulsive obsessive scale watcher! Thats me.

Warm legs hey Zukpr I have to shave mine very carefully or else the little fishes get caught in them when I go swimming either that or harpooned on the very pointy stubble ends.

I was looking at calcium supplements the other day ( only because they were chewable chocolate flavor) and I sort of remembered that someone had said something about losing better when taking calcium but I cant remember what type of calcium. From memory theywere taking it with the carnitane. Anyone have a better memory than me. ( LOL WHat a silly question LOL)

Queen J maybe you should post what you are eating everyday so the brains trust can check it out and see if there are any areas you can fine up. Are you using Fitday at all.

LD Hope that things are better with your mums eyes. Okay I know that this is a bit out there but maybe its a reaction to something that becasue she is rundown she wouldnt usually react too My friend Pat had breast cancer and while she had the operation, she refused to have chemo and have her ovaries removed . She did have the radiation therapy and has been seeing a naturpath. She removed all chemicals ie shampoos/ soaps cleaners and is using natural alternatives and is taking lots of mineral and vitamin supplements all in liquid form. That way she is much healthier and better able to combat anything else going on inside her. She has just had her 4 year checkup and was Ok . The only thing is that she found Doctors tended to shy away when she wanted something different and had to find one who would look at combining both methods of treatment. If this happened to me then I would be using both methods asI have seen someone who was given 2 months to live combine traditional and modern medicine and get 2 more years of full active life. I think its definitely something to look at but if you hate the idea then please dont worry about offending me as its only my opinion.
Anyway hi to everyone else I off to check out the recipes

Hi All.

Today would not be a good day to tell you all what I have eaten. VERY BAD STUFF, but tasted oh so good.

I have been using the Fitday website and it has said that my portions and my food choices are legal and within the limits. I am cruising between 14 - 22 grams of carbs. I have to go out of town for the next three days, but when I get back I will begin posting what I am eating for you so you can help. It will much appreciated.

Hope everyone is doing well and thank you for all the support.

Thought Id treat myself to the David Bowie concert coming up $174.00 per person. Can anyone hum 'ground control to major tom' for me.
I kow I shouldnt be back on the computer today but have a headache caused I think by something being a bit out in my back and causing problems with my shoulder and thus the head. Trying to relax while being surrounded by housework doesnt work and actually doing the work is worse, thus the computer. If I put it off long enough maybe it will go away. The house work that is.
What I really wanted to ask was is the flat bread only for savoury or can you do it without the cheese. Or have I misunderstood the whole idea of it.

Coral Calcium is the one you were thinking of Kathy. I don't take that one 'cause I can't find it in a really good butterscotch flavour.

Hey losers- have had a weird couple of days here with everything going wrong, but now I know why, as TOM just started. I don't know whether the hormones just make it harder to deal with any problems that come up, or whether all the cosmic forces just unite against anyone with PMS, but I am glad it only happens once a month...

BBElle- sounds like a great concert- i didn't know he was still touring. Good for you- you didn't let your nibblies get out of hand- that trainwreck thing does nt sound too bad to me right now!

Zukpr- wasn't it you who told us about that carnitine thingy last summer? I think I did it until it I used up the bottle and then never got any more because I was only losing a couple of pounds a month- would kill for that now- what was the full name of that stuff? or was it two different ones?

Queenj- sorry you are having trouble- would be more than happy to offer my worthless opinion (by that I mean it is free but comes from someone who seems to be permanently plateaued)

LazyD- from what I have heard there has NEVER been a reaction to a PET scan- could your MOm be allergic to something new? The other thing is that usually if you have a small secondary mass, you just do what you would do for the primary mass in the other lung as if you didn't even have the problem in the ohter lung, and just watch it. But seems like they should have been doing that already- November to February is too long of a delay. I would just raise heck with them rather than switch to a different specialist, as that will delay things even more. Do you have a family doc you know real well that can call and speed things up? never hurts to ask...We are thinking of you...

Later!

greengal there is a whole thread dedicated to the flat bread on the recipe board... there are some really good ideas there.

I made a batch of the bread last night, 1/2 I made like the recipe (except I brushed butter on the top not olive oil) the other became..... PIZZA CRUST!!!! Sooooo goooood, I haven't had pizza (except the egg crust kind once) in over a year. I needed to cook the crust a little longer, but I'm happy.

I had an idea about making a cinnamon type of bread... I think I'm going to experiment tonight, I'll let you know how it turns out.

Go check out the bread thread on the recipe board.

I'm down another pound this morning, that's a total of 6 since I reinducted on Jan 02... I still have 2 more to go to reach the all time low from last year, but I'm well on my way.

queenj... I've done two major changes to my daily diet that may have helped me with my stall.... one is I quit eating a SF snack sausage (like a slim jim) every day, and two is I've cut severly back on cheese. I used to eat 3 or 4 ounces of cheese a day but now I'll have cheese only once or twice a week. I can't think of anything else I've done except gone with the Atkins '72 plan and I drink a lot more hot tea (Celestial Seasonings) than I ever did before.

My menu usually consists of 2 hb eggs with butter for breaky, some sort of protein with less than a cup of lettuce and a lo-carb SF dressing (used as a dip) for lunch, another 2 hb eggs for snacks between breakfast and lunch and lunch and dinner, another protein with an acceptable veggie for dinner, SF jello or a custard for dessert at night. My carbs are staying from 15 to 25 a day but I think the culprits for me were the cheese and/or the snack sticks. Whatever it is, it's working again and I'll take all the help I can get.

Hope this helps somewhat, just remember, this WOL is forever, I firmly believe our bodies will "give it up" when they are ready. So just stick it out... we're here for you. (((hugs)))

Well the Bowie concert is out unless I rob a bank Sob sob. Mr Bright idea thought we would save money as he has been splending lots on videos since I started night work and he is so lonely, so he has arranged to have us get Austar which uses satellite So we can get Fox sports etc. SO we are paying for the connection instead. AND I want to know how come all of you get the cute hunky snow shovellers etc and I get the dweeby little Austar installer man. Blah!

Susan I was watching Extreme Makeover ( I know I know but there was nothing else on Tv) and they showed Upstate NY It is so beautiful. Is this where your place you are doing up to sell is? Why would anyone ever move.

Survivor starts here on Tuesday next so Maybe you can start a Survivor thread and if you put the date of the episode as the subject list then I can check it all out a week later without you giving it all away.

Was in the chinese takeaway last night yes I know hardly induction but was checking out what I could and couldnt eat and got them to prepare stuff without evil carbs. Anyway the woman serving there asked why and I said we were on Atkins and she said that she had done it years ago and had lost lots of weight but had put it all back on, and now that she is older She just didnt care anymore. I thought that was really sad. But you cant help some people. But at least now if we have to have takeaway that will give me another option as she can help me find any hidden carbs.

Well Lo carb finally got some vindication . We receive email newsletters from our health fund and they finally quoted 2 new studies that have shown Dr A to be right. How long does it take these guys.

The whatever in my back that is out and is causing my headaches is still out and pilates helped this morning but didnt fix it like I hoped. And of course I cant get into a chiropractor until next week
Im going to get Bob to jump up and down on me tonight or option B take to it with a sledge hammer. Im game for anything at this stage.

Thanks Lady T I'll check it all out as soon as I can think straight.

Well have a great day all and if its still snowing remember - Snowmen fall from Heaven unassembled.
Kathy
