Fabulous 40's 1/9/04
Well, ladies I figured it was time to start a new thread hope you don't mind. I am doing good, still right on plan and NO CHEATS
I was out yesterday for my stress test, I won't know the results until the Dr. calls me but I figure if there was a problem I would have found out yesterday before I left. Things have been really crazy lately...so much little stuff to take care of etc... Rita - I can relate to having someone razor cut your hair and not having a clue! I was terribly supprised when my hairdresser of about 16 years thinned my hair, I ended up with one side that had a hollow spot, needless to say I was a happy camper !I actually haven't even been back to her mostly cause of the cost, way to expensive for my buget. Diane - I feel for you being in such cold weather . This week here it is between the 60's and low 70's. I'm sorry to hear you are back to work already, I was thinking you had another week...lol Congrats on your loss too!Arlene - Sounds like you are right on top of things...keep up the good work and try not to get discouraged. 16 lbs in 3 weeks way to go!!!! Tami - Seems we have lost you girl, I just hope you are ok. I really miss you and you'll remain in my prayers. Well, I have a total loss of 5 pounds for the first week..yippee I will do my best to help increase the loss with exercise providing I get rid of this cold. I have weak lungs so I can't do too much until they are better. I will post again on Monday (my computer is getting some things done to it) til then have a wonderful weekend. ![]()

Sleepy Sunday!
I am so sleepy, didn't get too much sleep last night. I stayed pretty well on track yesterday with my eating, no treats no huge salads and only 2 Diet Rite's. I think I need to up my water though. I've lost an additional lb as of yesterday. School starts Thursday and I spent all Friday at Financial Aid to finalize all the scholarship stuff. I am so ready to graduate! I was between excited to death and scared to death when I first went back almost 4 years ago. Now I'm down to 3 classes left to graduate. Unfortunately I have to take a class this semester that is a prerequisite to one of the other classes. As it's a senior class it won't be offered this coming summer so I won't graduate til December next year, but hey, by then I'll be a much skinnier me under the cap and gown! Hoping everything is well for all! Hugz, Arlene 44 yrs young 5'8 292/275/165 1st mini goal 42 lbs down by 3/17/04

Hi girls, not much to post. Still in the deep freeze and not enjoying it. It was 40 below zero with the wind yesterday. We went out to fill the bird feeders and the wind was cutting right through our hats/gloves, etc. Still plugging away, but not making much progress these days. We plan on starting our work outs again, so hopefully that will help. Well, like I said not much to post....Hope all is well with everyone. Take care.

Good Morning Ladies!!!
Well, I see we all made it through the weekend...I am still cheat free and I just can not wait until Friday so I can have my lowcarb bread!! Plus a few other treats that aren't allowed on induction, but are lowcarb! Like a small DRINK...
I really was hoping I would have lost more by now but so far the loss is only 5 lbs total maybe things will change by Thursday. I guess I have to break down and start to exercise this week Diane - Bless your heart girlfriend...you must hate getting up to go to work in that awful freezing weather . I bet the birds were glad you didn't let the freezing weather stop you from feeding them. Your picture looks beautiful! Keep up the good work and for heavens sake, stay warm.Arlene - Sounds like you are doing great. I commend you on the school thing. I hated school so you couldn't pay me to go again...lol Stick to your guns! Rita - What's up girlfriend...you having to much fun or what?! I hope you get the chance to stop in soon, I miss hearing from you. Well, like Diane, not really much going on so I suppose I will get myself back to work. I wish you lovely ladies a great day with lot's of success! (((((Group Hug))))) |

still freezing here....65 below zero with the wind..................UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't stand this cold anymore! Not even the house feels warm on days like this. Going to the Dr today to see if he can cut the darn stitches that are sticking out through my incision....I'm making a mess trying to cut them myself!!!!!!!!! He'll probably have to numb it and make a little incision because it won't heal up properly....I have the best luck

I am still cheat free, but not losing. In fact with the onset of TOM last night, I awoke to a 2 lb gain!! If things don't change soon I'm going to have to make some adjustments becos I got so frustrated this evening that I sat watching TV and thinking about something sinfully cheating I could eat only an hour after dinner. Instead I ended up calling my sister and talking about her kids and her trying to sell her house etc and the thoughts passed, but they were real for about 20 mins. Argh!! Argh!!
This WOE isn't difficult, but when nothing happens, or you gain while staying on plan it's hard to stick to your guns. Rita, thanks for the words of encouragement and congrats on staying on plan. Diane, just before coming to the boards I was reading a cnn article about how cold it is in the northeast. It's been really mild here the past few days, especially today at 63 F. I remember how cold it can get up there as I grew up in PA and remember playing outside in single digit temps. I think maybe now my bones might be too old to deal with that kind of chill though. Well, I hope all of you are doing well and losing weight like water tumbling over rocks, I wish i could say the same for me Hugz, Arlene |

Arlene, the "stall" you seem to be experiencing is VERY normal for the time period of this diet that you're in. Almost everyone seems to experience that after the first 2-3 weeks and sometimes it will last for weeks. The important thing is to stay the course. It will pass. Don't tweak the diet, it will work....you just need to stay true to the plan and keep going. Like you said, it's an easy diet to follow...or I probably should say it's an easy "lifestyle" to follow. Your body needs to catch up that's all. Take your measurements, sometimes you see inches lost without any weight loss. One day you'll get up and the scale will be different and you'll forget about this "stall" until the next one.
My Dr had to cut my stitches out yesterday and gave me 4 stitches on the outside that he'll take out next week. It already feels better than it did, but it does hurt in a different way...oh well, like everything else, I'll get over it. KK, what did you find out?? I don't think I've read anything about your tests....(or is it the fact that I'm 42 and can't remember?...lol) Rita, where are you? I hope you're not having trouble logging in because you changed your e-mail address. Well, I need to take DH to work, his Jeep doesn't want to start and it's tooooo darn cold to stand out there and put the new battery in right now. It's about 40 below this morning with the wind.... Well have a great day ladies! We'll "chat" soon!

40 Below!! My mind can't even fathom that! Thanks for that advice Diane. I had already decided to give it another 2 weeks before doing anything, I was just frustrated, whining and good old TOM had me down in the dumps! If I don't see any change this next week I'm thinkning of posting my daily food intake and seeing if any of you can see where I might be going wrong. The 2 lb gain is gone, but I'm back at what I have been for over a week now. I took my measurements yesterday and have lost 4 inches in an 8 point measurement (neck, chest, waist, hip, thigh, calf, upper arm and forwarm) Well, I need to go shower. School begins today, so I'll be busy, busy, busy! Hugz, Arlene 44 yrs young 5'8 292/275/165 |

KK, can you email me Rita's new e-mail address?? Somehow it didn't get into my address book. I think she may be having trouble logging into this site because she's changed e-mail addresses...or atleast that's my guess. I can't believe I don't have her new address. I noticed she no longer show's up in my list and that's what made me think of it. I think if I e-mail her (or if you can) we may be able to help her find her way back!!
By the way, Arlene, my body can't begin to fathom 40 below!! I can't get warm even inside. Yesterday I wore 2 sweaters at work!! It was 60 below earlier in the week....that hurts to breathe. One year it reached 78 below when we were home on leave (at the time we lived in Mass and came home for Xmas)....it was so darn cold that the hood release latch on our new car broke off in my husband's hand...it was a steel cable!! I look forward to retiring and moving south in the winter.... Last edited by Princess Di : 01-15-2004 at 10:48 AM. |

I'm back!
Hi ladies! Well, I really know how to goof up! LOL First I tried to update my profile with my new email address and the board wouldnt let me back in! Then..I try and let you all know I'm back and I start a new thread by mistake! LOL Anyways, it's me Rita and this is my new screen name. I had to re register to make it work!
I use this name in the chat room too.Sounds like everyone is doing great! Im happy for you all! I am doing OK. Trying to keep my carbs low. Induction is just too hard to follow, but I am eating low carb and back to exercising and watching my calories so I hope to see the scale go down soon. KK-How are you doing? Good I hope. Diane- One word, COLD!!! LOL Brrr, don't know how your handling that cold weather in the N.E. I really dont think I'd be able to move up north again. Glad to hear you got the new stitches and hope that does the trick for your pain. Keep healing and getting better. Arlene- hang in there girl! One thing about low carbing is that you dont always lose pounds, but you will keep losing inches even when the scale wont budge. Keep the faith! Hugs to you all and I'm happy to be back to the boards! I've missed you all! Rita ![]() |

Hi there...
I went and looked for the old account and the system must of purged it. When you changed your email addy it probably sent you a message to confirm it was you changing it... but because you didn't respond it erased it. (Sometimes the confirmation email will go to bulk mail and people miss it) What I can do is change the name on your new account if you want your old name back? Feel free to PM me to let me know and I will be happy to take care of that for you!!! Thanks for the Heads up Diane!! cheri

Some days it just doesn't pay to get out of bed!!
I had another sleepless night worrying about bills and how I was going to buy my text books, etc. I went back to bed and slept 2.5 hours then had to get up and take DH to work (we only have one car) On the way home I was going to stop at Circle K and buy some diet rite, I was at the light, about to turn left, almost through the light I hear screeching tires, a horn and Bam...I was hit in the passenger rear door. It spun me 360 degrees, but I did have my seat belt on. I sat there stunned for a few seconds, then pulled my cell phone out of my purse...tried to remember how it worked...(I'm serious) and tried calling my DH's desk at work. No answer...called his cell phone and told him I'd just been in a wreck (my very first...never even have had a fender bender, speeding ticket or anything) I was shaking so bad I had to hang up, told him I'd call him back. Some lady comes walking up to my door and tells me I had just run a red light and the wreck was my fault and she is a witness. I asked how the light could be red...and if so...the girl who hit me ran the light as well...she got all flustered and said maybe I didn't run a red light but it was definitely my fault. Funny thing is, it just so happens the car behind me was my car insurance agent. Although he told the police the other car was going very fast, it had swerved from behind a car that was stopped to turn right and she didn't even put her brakes on until she hit me (she was behind three SUV's when I began turning so I never saw her and she should have had plenty of time to slow down...but she had the right of way so I was ticketed!!! Now I have to come up with 250.00 deductible as well as pay at least 10 days of 20% of a rental car, not to mention whatever the ticket will be. Ya know...some days it just doesn't pay to get out of bed! Hugz, Arlene |
