QUEEN NEWBIES JANUARY CHALLENGE

We keep seeing everyone on here needing a pen pal and some suppport, well we're here to help.... The worst thing is for a newbie to post and not get a response so we're beating you all to the punch.

If you want someone to stay on your back and make sure you're following the program, we can help you with that. We have a group of people who keep us in line and we do the same for them.

If you need some support or someone to talk to this is the place for you. We want to make sure that anyone who really wants to lose weight gets the help they need. Leave your mark and we will do whatever we can to help.

I took the liberty to start off our January Queen Newbies Thread since it IS January 2nd..

Last month was a tough one since it was the Holidays with Christmas and New Years temptations... believe me, I KNOW TEMPTATIONS!

THIS IS A BRAND NEW YEAR!

SKINNY QUEENIES IN 2004!

The Holidays are out of the way... so January is the month to get back in GEAR!

Come on Queenies! we can do this!!!

What should our challenge be this month??...

I say : NO CHEATS

Let's post what temptations we had for the day and what we did to over come them. Let's share our experiences and also realize our strengths..

are all gone now. I ate them all. LOL.........No, seriously I did. So now I don't have to worry about it.

I am starting re-induction on Monday. That's when everyone goes back to work or school and my life gets back to somewhat normal.

I vote for the NO CHEATS January.

Cheryl, what are some things you do to prepare to start your induction? (I'm curious to what others do, what I do too, and what I need to do).

Teresa, Welcome back!... I"m sorry it's been tough for you... Holidays have been tough for me, dietwise. The endless Christmas programs, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years EVE , New Years DAY.. ALL with their food. But January is a NEW YEAR...

Kara, sorry about your mom! That is horrible to go through! I hope she is doing better... my prayers to you and her. As for the holidays, i didn't fair so well...But it's a new year... WElcome back and keep strong.. we gotta do this!

Sorry I was not here to start the new thread and it seems Teresa has been missing too. Cristi thanks a bunch for helping out, your the best.

As for the challenge. I'm a couple days late but I will be more than happy to join in right now. I had planned on starting Induction again after the holidays anyway so I know if I have to check in with you all I will be a lot better at staying away from bad foods.

I have to tell you all something funny though. I ate bad foods all while I was home for the holidays and all I wanted to eat was my low carb stuff, but they didnt have any. So basically I didnt really eat anything, LOL. I will post my weight tomorrow after I get in the scale. I just walked in the door but I had to make sure I stopped here and told you all I wasnt dead. I love the weigh in Weds. I really need that. I also need to drink water again so I'm going to start that.


If anyone would like to add to the challenge on help keep track of stats please let us know. As you can see we get lost sometimes, LOL, I want to see how much I lose when I dont cheat vs. when I do, LOL. Ok I have to go unpack all my crap and I will be back to chat with you all. I will also be at the chat tomorrow. I cant miss it this week.

Just wanted to let everyone know that tomorrow, Sunday night the food network is having specials on low carb food. It starts at 8pm. Right around our chat time so I will remind everyone tomorrow. It's cutting into my law and order time but I think that might be the inspiration I need.

Great January Challenge



I love the idea of a cheat-free January...I was doing fine until a dinner party last night. I caught myself eating the roasted potatoes on my plate--and I don't even crave potatoes--they were just THERE!!!!

Oh well--today is a brand new day and I do have the power to eat clean!!!

It sure helps to have a place to talk about it--thanks to all for posting.

I accept the January challenge and add (for myself) MORE EXERCISE.

Good morning.

What I do to get ready for induction.

1. Make a menu for suppers.
2. Know what I want for breakfast and lunch.
3. Go grocery shopping.
4. Get rid of all junk (which I did, I ate it all) No lie.
5. Label all my stuff so my family will not eat it.
6. Fill water jug up and put in frig. I seem to be able to drink more if I keep a cold jug of water. I have been slacking in that area.
7. Get my food, weight and measurement journal back out and fill it in every single day.
Seems like when I write stuff down I stick to it better.
8. Also keep an exercise journal. Does anyone know what flylady is? It's an awesome website that gives you tips on house cleaning and exercise, basically everyday life. Well, she says you can do anything for 15 minutes. So, I have my handy dandy timer and will be setting it for 15 min. work outs for 1st week, and then the next week setting it for 5 more min. Gradually working myself up.


This time, starting Monday, I am going to have goals listed at the bottom of my signature. I am going to stick to these goals. I want my weight gone by June 3. That averages out to about 5 lbs. a month. Does that sound reasonable?

I am so determined this time around. My clothes were fitting good and I blew it. But that's ok, I am getting right back into the swing of things. My daughter just got a bunch of jeans and by goodness I will be wearing her jeans by June. LOL.....

Well, I gotta run. I will try to make it to chat also. I haven't made a chat in months.

I typed a long message and somehow the computer froze up and it got lost, ahhhhhhh. And you all know I can not remember what I wrote, but here is the important thing, lol.

Cheryl- that was some great advice that you gave. You just forgot one thing. Post with us, we're here to help.

MY STARTING WEIGHT FOR THE JANUARY CHALLENGE IS 229.
MINI GOAL- LOSE 9 POUNDS. NEW WEIGHT 220

I've gained two pounds but it was all that holiday eating. I tell you it was a lot easier to just eat the food then to try to explain to my family what I could and could not eat. I got so tired I just ate. I'm glad I'm home where I control what ends up on my plate.

I just have few tips for those of us who are re-inducting themselves in January. Remember the weight will not come off as fast as it did the first time so be patient. Also watch for hidden carbs. If you've started eating other foods like I did remember you need to cut all those out and then bring them back.

If you were not exercising you need to start. You really dont want to lose the weight and keep it off if you dont want to get your butt up and work out.

On a side note dont cheat yourself. I know this is No Cheat January but what I mean is dont cheat yourself out of being happy. Dont let some bread come between you and your thin dreams. I've lost 40, well 38 pounds and believe me I am not going back. I could never have done that without my own will power. I know we all gives credit to Atkins but Atkins is nothing without us. You have to not want to eat the bad foods, Atkins just tells you what they are. Give yourself some credit, if you lost 1 or 100 pounds you did it and you can keep doing it.

Let's make sure we post our beginning weights and our mini goals. We've got to stay motivated. I said stay and not get because I think we all have the motivation in us and I'm going to stay that way.

January Challange

I have gotten way off course.

Along with the holiday stress, I’ve been learning a new job and the closing date for our house has been postponed 5 times. With everything going on I haven’t been staying on track.

Even worse I gained 14 pounds!

So for January challenge starting 184 my mini goal will be 6 pounds for an ending weight of 178. Cheating is an area I’ve really been failing at.

Has anyone seen the ads for the Discovery health body challenge weigh in on Jan. 10th? I was planning on going. They will be offering fat analysis and weight loss starter kits with a 3 month trial membership to Bally’s Fitness center. I can’t afford to join Bally’s, but I thought it would be a great way to jumpstart my fitness plan for this year.

By the way Anna you gained 14 and girl your going to lose 14. I will make sure I stay on your back and make sure you do it. I have 9 to lose so we're in the same boat and we need to be thin to keep it floating. Are you with me?

OK GUESS WHAT, YOU CAN COME BACK NOW!!!!!!

We know some of you have fallen off the wagon, or you did like me and took a break for the holidays. Well it's time to come back. Dont go feeling guilty about all the crap you ate because that was last year. it's 2004 and guess what we are going to lose this weight and keep it off. Yes we ate bread and pasta, and cake and we love every bite of it. But guess what we need to put it down again because we have some swimsuits to get into this summer.

So come back and confess your sins. We will kick you in the butt one good time and then you get back on the right track. And no this is not a new years resolution, so if you made a resolution to lose weight forget it. Scatch it off the list, hell burn the list. People never do what's on their list and I will not let you all fail on this weight loss thing. This is the Queens universal resolution.

QUEENS RESOLUTION FOR 2004 IS TO BE HAPPY

Yep that's it, we're just going to be happy doing whatever we want to do. If you havent joined the challenge you better do so. If you havent put the carbs down, you better. 20 carbs a day is all you get so use them wisely. Hopefully I will see a lot of names. Teresa is on the watch to make sure we're doing what we're suppose to.

Machon...You are right, I did leave off posting here on my list. Oooppsss.....Glad to see you are back in full posting mode.

Ok....One more confession and I am done. I got one of those jars that has dry ingredients in it for brownies for Christmas and it has been staring me in the face....It kept saying, come on Cheryl just fix me and get it over with. Ok, I did fix it and ate 2 brownies. They are all gone now. I made my kids finish them up. I officially have everything in my house that is illegal and tempting gone.

Tomorrow morning I am going to weigh and post my goals for each month. I think I have gained almost 3 lbs. But man oh man if you could have seen what I have been eating lately. Anyways, I AM going to stick to the plan.

I think when I first started low carbing or actually doing Atkins, I wasn't totally convinced it would work. But seeing that the weight and the inches were coming off convinced me otherwise. I didn't beat myself up for having a cheat now and then. But I don't want to eat like I have through the holidays.

Come June I will be in a bikini floating in my pool. Not a string bikini, but some sort of skin showing swimsuit. Heck, I might even get my belly button pierced.

So, everyone watch out. I am one motivated person. I know WE all can do this.

You have picked a great place to come hang out. We are all actually starting over, LOL but we do have a lot of experience under out belts. Could you just give us some info about yourself such as your weight and you goals. We also usually do a little thing where we tell everyone why we decided to finally lose the weight and keep it off listing the other diets we have tried. Some of the stories had me in tears let me tell you, but they did keep me going and I have stuck with the program since August. I hope you love it here as much as I do.

Kim make sure you join the January Challenge. We would love to have you not cheat along with us.

Cheryl- I have one of those jars on my counter. It tells me to add vanilla and since I dont have any in my house right now I cant make them, LOL. The chances of me remember to buy vanilla at the store are very slim also so it might sit there for awhile.

Hey guys, side note. I hear that slimfast has released a low carb shake. Are they admitting that low carb is the best way to go. I hope so because we all know it works. I also watched the special on the food network and it was great. If you all get a chance to check it out I reccommmend it. They talked about several low carb diets, but Atkins by far took control of the show. The words that I loved were when the dr. said "Low carb diets are here to stay because they work". Hey we are living proof they work

Well I just wanted to drop by and post before I went to work. Letting you know that I will begin all my posting again, LOL. I have to keep the inspiration going. Also I am one day no cheats. Yesterday I had bacon and eggs, ham cheese and eggs, and for dinner I had fried shrimp. I ate some cheese as a snack. I didnt drink water I'm trying to get rid of all the diet soda and I did have 8 glasses of it. Well I'm off to a good start and I will see you all after I get off work. Have a great low carb day.

I worked 12 hr shift 8 days straight!!!! So im a little tierd
Ive been so grumpy that i thought my marriage was a goner!!!!

I havent seen my husband for more than 30mins a day

Kim this is a great group of ladies. As Machon said we are all starting over on induction so we can all help each other. Please join us on our challenge. Also, we are starting back up the Sunday Chat at 8 pm, central time. So come and join us.

My weigh in for the Challenge is 201. My mini goal will be 5 pounds so that is 196.

Everyone who missed the typing party last night you missed a great time. Next week you have to come and bring a friend. Lets all see how full we can get that chat room.

Things here are slowing down. I have sent all the extra kids home so it is just mine and I am laying down the law that Mom has to have computer time and if they don't like it then they can go somewhere else every night.

Well I am going to run for now. Oh as a side note what I really came in for today besides my promise to check in more is that I had a great day at work. I got a small promotion. I will be job coaching a couple of hours a day. I will still be in my classroom when I am at the center but I will be going out with trainees on their jobs. I have put in for this job 2 times before and this morning I just told my new boss that I wanted it and she gave it to me. I can not wait. Tomorrow will be my first day doing this so everyone wish me luck. Talk to you allsoon.

My name is Candy and I'm a re-inductee

Thanks to mzfpg I've read this thread and find it supportive and enjoyable. I'm shy about joining threads because I feel like everyone knows everyone and I hate joining in or feel I have nothing to say. But today was my first day of induction...I actually was on this before but didn't do induction and all that since I hadn't read everything about it. But I have read about induction and all that now so I am better prepared. I weigh close to 175 and have a goal of 150 by my 23rd b-day in May. I think that if I have a cheat free month I will feel so good about myself and I'll buy some new jeans That's a big challenge though...I wish all of you luck and will power. Thanks for the support!

no cheat

OK I thought I could handle this no cheat thing, but when I returned to my office I found it full of candy and junk food. I had forgotten that there was so much left over from the Christmas parties with the girls. I will have to box it up and get it out of my sight first thing tomorrow. I resisted until things got a little rushed and I had to stay late. I had two small kit-kats.

I will do much better tomorrow.

Thanks Machon - I’m not sure I can lose 14 in one month-it took me two to gain it. I’ll try for 9 with you. I don’t want to set myself up to fail. But I could defiantly use some on my case all month.

Oh and about those kit kats Anna, you did well you could have eaten a lot of other junk that is not good for you. You'll burn off those kit kats in no time. Trust me.

Ok people we are not cheating in January. I dont know what you thought you were doing but you better put that food down. If I can not cheat you can not cheat. Remember the Queen of Cheating is doing this challenge I know you can.
