Pen Pal wanted
I am looking for a pen pal to encourage each other both on the diet and through exercise. I am currently on my 3rd month of the Atkins diet and plan to start a regular exercise program that includes running 5-6 times a week. I started at 203 and am down to 183 with new clothes. I am currently a graduate student who loves my guitar and watching the Cubs. Male or female of any age invited to be my motivational partner.

Hey Caseybug,
Congrats on your 21st and having a child! Only one glass of wine, wow thats self-control. My 21st included a pub crawl with my fraternity bros. A night I don't remember too much about I am from IL but went to school in MO for 4 years. How old is your child? Thanks for responding to my post!sportsguy17 |

Another baseball fan
Hi sportsguy-
I'm pretty much looking for the same as you. I've been going 3 1/2 months now... started at 216 and am now at 180. I'm an avid baseball fan too and I'm sure during the season we can heckle eachother pretty good. LOL. I've been trying to run myself...but pushed it too hard too soon and just hurt my knee about a week ago. I now work out 5 days a week at the gym- mostly cardio and swimming. I'm reading up on Body For Life though and plan to incorporate a 12 week BFL challenge into my workout starting January 1st. Gives me a couple of weeks to study up , practice, and get all the paperwork in order to make it go alot easier. My ultimate goal right now is to finish the 2006 Disney Marathon. I'm not going to be competing mind you, but I want to be able to say that I have completed a marathon at least once in my lifetime. Disney World sounds like a REAL NICE place to be to keep your mind off of running don't you think? This gives me 2 years...who knows maybe I'll be good to go for next year (they are usually in January.) I live in Ohio- so we're practically neighbors. I'll talk at ya later! |

GoTribe,
Just the kind of pen pal I was looking for (especially since the Cubs are better than the Indians!). I have always in the back of my head wanted to train for a marathon but the idea of 26.2 miles gets to me when i am aching at 6 miles on the tredmill. You mentioned the BFL program, where did you hear about that or get the info. Right now all I do is the tredmill but would like to incorporate weights back into my routine. Maybe we can both start the BFL together Jan 1st. Talk to you later. |

Hey,
Congrats on the weight loss... You are doing great and keep it up. I had 100 + pounds to loose (which I lost) and have pretty much kept it off for several years now. Ha, I just had a doughnut though... So much for inspiration I guess. I suppose I would like to loose another 20 pounds, but I am at 180 now and have been for awhile. I think my body likes it here and I am a 35-36 waist so who knows... Oh well, I need to exercise more too. Good luck... |

Howdy Spacegirl...
So you've tried BFL?? Both sportsguy and myself are possibly going to start this together on January 1st (AREN'T WE SPORTSGUY? LOL ). Any tips or suggestions. What do you think the reason you quit after 5 weeks was? Any help of what to do-not to do would be appreciated! |

Hey G0tribe !
I'm all for starting another bfl challenge .. one thing that is soo super important is planning ! alot of people use the first week as a break in week to get into the new ways then wanna start over right then and there cuz they didnt realize how critical it was to be prepared .. i know that has happend to me .. more than once ! with me i just kept falling out of the loop with the workouts .. i work out alot - but i also work 75 hrs a week .. so the timing was a huge factor with me .. istill is ...i know that if we continue to contact one another and have the support needed we can do this ! sound cool ?? wow the idea of doing a marathon and finishing would be so great .. i have often thought bout it .. remember Oprah did it ! |

Caseybug- BFL stands for Body For Life...it's a weight lifting/nutrition regimen that is very strict but only lasts 12 weeks. Many people have had absolutely unbelievable body changes in those 12 weeks. You wouldn't think it possible- but it is.
Spacegirl- That would be awesome starting it with you too. Going to take my before pictures soon (want me to send you the naked ones?? <<snicker>> just kidding)...man I hope I can do this! I too work alot of hours, and one of the worst things is I'm on call 24 hrs a day 7 days a week too. So that part sucks. You're always tense waiting on that daggone pager to go off. I started warking out just 2.5 months ago but I'm at the gym 4-5 times a week now. Mostly been doing cardio so I'm sure I'm in for some REALLY SORE days when I start lifting. It will be a learning experience for me- I could feed off of the knowledge you've already gained. I may end up holding off on my start date for a little while though. I go to the gym before work right now because I get home so late. Well- my wife, who WAS a stay at home mom, has decided to re-enter the full time work force and will start on January 4th. Thats going to be a huge adjustment for us and I'll be the one in charge of taking the kids to daycare before work. Unfortuantely their daycare will be 20 minutes in the OPPOSITE direction of the gym. Just not sure how everything is going to work out quite yet. |
