Hey!
I'm doing induction (for the second time, ugh!) because I quit smoking about a month ago. How much do you have to lose? I have approximately 30lbs to lose and I can use all of the encouragement I can get! Plus, I'm a great believer in the human spirit therefore I'm a natural born cheerleader for others (just not for myself *sigh*). Look forward to learning more about you! Suzanne ![]() |

restarting my program
Hi my name is Becky from Oregon and I restarted Atkins again today. I lost 30 pounds for my son's wedding earlier this year and then fell off right after the wedding..
I love how I feel on this program. I think a pen pal would be fun and a great help with my future weight lost. Who knows we might become great friends..(hope that didn't sound needy giggle) and give each other a boost when needed..Have a great day!! Becky |

pen pal circle
Hi everyone!
I'm glad each of you replied because like I've said before, I'm a great cheerleader for everyone else except myself. So I can use all the encouragement I can get.How is everyone on trying recipes? I want to expand my low carb recipe repetoire so that I won't get bored with this WOE again. I'd really like to know how each of you plan on handling Thanksgiving? There's a dressing recipe that I want to try and (good thing) we can have the turkey.Would like to hear from each of you and would like to learn what your goals are. Also, if you did this WOE before, what do you think helped/hurt you in attaining your weight loss. Look forward to hearing from each of you! Suzanne ![]()

Well, I have done this before and I know what my down fall was. I stopped finding time to plan meals for one. I work for a time management company now and in the software i found a menu planner sheet. You can plan for the week and on the back side you can write out a shopping list. I think making 2 for phase 1 and rotating them ( i stay on it 3-4 weeks. It takes 21 one days to change habbits) and then making 4-6 weeks that I can rotate the next phase to not get bored and to not have to plan as much. Also, Im staying away from the atkins products except may be for breakfast shakes. I did well with them but got carried away with bars and candies. They got me wanting the real thing.

Hi Everyone - I intially started this WOE back in May. But After a vacation in June, and then my birthday in July, I felt the diet was hard to stick too. Since August however, I am happy to say that i have faithfully stayed committed to this WOE. Even through Halloween! Now that is an accomplishment!
I recently went back to the induction phase of the diet because i felt that my weight loss has slowed down a bit. I think it was mostly because i was adding in a lot of new low carb foods like the atkin bars, pasta and other things like that. Once i get closer to my goal I will start adding them back in. But for now im determined to lose! For thanksgiving this year, i have been going back and forth with the idea of splurging on that day and eating whatever I want or sticking to the LC way of eating. But now, after looking at so many nice lc recepies on here, i may just stick to this lc thing through the holiday! I would be so dissapointed if i ate whatever i wanted that day and gained back 2lbs or more! So id rather not take that chance. I encourage any of you out there to allow this day as a cheat day though. Everyone of us deserves it! As for me though, I think im goign to try my hardest to hold off. The thought of a slim me in a nice pair of jeans and a nice shirt (tucked in!) is much more appealing to me right now then some pumpkin pie. Have a good friday ladies.

The same thing happened to me! I was doing this woe in June and my husband suprised me with a trip to New Orleans for our anniversary in July. Like I'm going to turn down food from the French Quarter!!! Oh, I tried the first day and a half but a muffaletta without the bread isn't going to work! LOL So, here I am ........ and the saga continues! Suzanne ![]() |

Well, thats the thing about the phase after induction, you will slow down. don't do like me and try and live off induction just because you want the weight off fast. You WILL get bored, you WILL get cravings back, and you WILL go off after awhile. go to phase 2 and find your highest carb level that you can eat at and still loose, then bring it down a little more. That weigh you are still losing more than you would be on phase too, but able to mix things up more to not get bored. Some people just can't have pastas and atkins products. Its just one of those things. I can get away with the shakes for breakfast but if i get bars i want to eat the whole box. So im not touching any atkins at all if i can help it.

possible weigh in date?
Hi everyone'
I was wondering if yous guys would be interested in setting a weigh in date such as a week from today. I was thinking that it would be optional if you wanted to share +/- lbs at that time. I just thought since we all have goals that perhaps we would be a little more diligent if we are accountable to ourselves in a more structured way. Kinda like knowing your mom is visiting on a certain date so the house HAS to be cleaned! LOL Post what you think. Have a great day!Suzanne |

Hey peoples,
Today is the day. I am back on . Though I have already been getting the "Right before holidays???" speach. You know what, its just another day of food and choices. I can have that stuff again some day even just as a treat, I don't have to have it right now. The timing feels right even if it doesn't to others. Suzanne, I'll be weighing every monday. Again, the size is whats important, but weight is another way to see how we are doing in general. I have to get ready for work. I'll check in on the site after lunch. Gooood Morning, Low Carb divas!
How is everyone doing this morning? Here it is doing its severe thunderstorm, possible hail thing. We are also experiencing temps in the lower 80's. I want to wear my sweaters!!
Shelley, since you weigh on Mondays maybe we should just make it a weekend thing like Friday-Monday and we decide which day we want. Once again I agree with Shelley that this is a personal option and we should keep in mind how do we feel in our own bodies and not how the scales tell us to feel. I started to keep track a little better with a food diary in ms works and I was enlightened as to how many carbs I was taking in! Also, welcome txfun! Hang on to 'yer hat pardner, I live in Spring too! Finally, I am issuing a water challenge to anyone who wants to take it. My goal is to drink 72oz by 6:00 this evening. If you want to partake in this little challenge then state your goal and time or we can race using mine! Later Beautiful Peoples, Suzanne |

Afternoon ladies. I am back as promised. I did find time for breakfast but it was just some meat and water... no carbs but a mint for 1 lol. I got home about 2, had a hamburger pattie (0 carbs) before I started cooking my chicken. I am now sitting here eatting my 9 carb salad. Im not sure how i am going to pull off another 10 carbs though. I know I will be having steak or chicken and a cup of broccoli cooked in garlic butter. That should get me another 5. I can honestly say at 2:40 p.m. EST I have already put away about 68 oz :P I have a 34oz red cup and I have drank it twice. My goal is to drink 4 of them a day for 136 oz a day.... but if nothing else i want to get 3 in. Today I will have 102 in by 6:00 p.m. and 136 in by 10:00 p.m. I don't get off work until late so right now I don't know if Im taking it with me or eatting when I get home. I'd like my cooked broccoli fresh instead of nooked. Might just have it raw *shrug*. I have a while to decide that. I'm going to try and get a few minutes exercise in before my 2nd job, too.
So for the 3 hours between I am pre-cooking chicken, steak, and hamburger for the week as well as dishes and exercise phewwww......... should keep me busy, don't you agree. Thats the key, keep moving ![]() |

How is everyone?
Hi everyone!I thought I would find out how everyone did with the big pig out day. So far so good for me (cheated low carb style). I read a post on the board about the first Atkins book and how it seems to help some lose weight quicker. I think I'm going to give it a try because I have seriously been pushing the low carb envelope! Is anyone up for a water challenge? 72oz by 5:00 is my goal. Shelley, wanna race? (Last time I almost didn't make it and it was my dumb idea!LOL) I hope everyone has a great day and I hope to hear how you're doing! Later low carbers Suzanne |

hi!
Hi! I just started induction on Dec. 3 for the very first time! It's a little tough, but I think I can do it! Especially with some support!
The very first post said something about passing up the cheesecake. I've found several yummy looking cheesecake recipes on this very site! I'm not sure if they are allowed during induction though. Maybe someone can clear that up for me. But if they are...... WOO HOO!!!!! LOL I have been very addicted to pastas.... and caffeine (diet coke). I have cut out the pastas of course, but have had one glass of diet coke a day so far. The rest of the time, I'm downing water, water, water! I saw somewhere that we should have at least 64 oz of water a day, which sounded like a lot. That is, until I realized it was just slightly more than 3 20 oz. diet cokes. LOL Heck, I can drink that much before noon! I weighed myself this morning, (day two), and had lost 2 lbs already! Yay!!! I just thought I'd drop a note here! You all sounded like a fun bunch! I would love to send messages here, or if you have Yahoo messenger, you can find me there! I'm clayladyinred. Bye for now! Have a great day! Shannon |

Welcome everyone
Hey peoples!
Sounds like you're doing well Shelley. Wish I could say the same darn thing Unfortunately, I think I know what slows me down, but I keep going back to it. *sigh*April, loving the jokes. (Can we consider laughing an aerobic activity?) How's school going by the way? I'm embroiled in finals right now but, I begin the first part of student teaching next semester so the thought that this will be the last time I do these kind of finals makes it easier. Welcome to the new posters by the way! The fourth day of induction I experienced flu like symptoms but I was fine the next day. You may not feel any discomfort but just in case, hang in there 'cause you feel great after that!I guess I'd better go for now because the kids keep pestering me to get the Christmas decorations out. Today will HAVE to be the day (too many projects due for school) according to this tight time schedule. I want to hear how everyone is doing especially if you've lost lbs! I'm in need of encouragement desperately. Have a great Friday, ladies! Suzanne |
