Looking for a pen pal - Bay Area.
Hello,
Well, I am just starting this diet, have been putting it off long enough..started 11/5. Have to loose 140 lbs. So, basically I need to loose a average sized woman..to become a average sized woman...LOL. anyway...if you want to chat about low carb stuff...I am interested. |

Hi!
I'm not in the bay area; as a matter of fact, I live on the other side of the US, but I thought I'd write anyway. I know how hard it is to get started and every bit of support helps. We have some common ground....I am a mom of three- boy, girl, boy, and I also had to lose an "average-sized woman". I would still like to get down to 140-145 but have been struggling with that last ten pounds for like ever! The scale keeps bouncing the same five pounds or so at me. It will go then come back....vicious cycle...lol. But I am not giving up. I love being an average sized person- for the first time in my life! It is well worth the effort and the sacrifice. I did some research on South Beach, and my personal opinion is that it is too liberal for me. I, unfortunately, need more discipline. South Beach allows so much more in their diet plan, and I was afraid that I would abuse that freedom as I am so addicted to food. I love to eat! That's how I got to be the size I was to begin with. Anyway, that's my opinion. If you are more disciplined than I, you may do well. Hope to hear from you. Don't give up; believe me, you won't regret it.

Wow
Hi,
So, which plan did you use Atkins? It is nice to know that it has worked for someone. Only 10 more pounds to go that is great! I am sure you feel a lot better though. I am doing pretty good so far with the diet, it does take some getting used to, especially since I am used to going out and eating. It is harder to go out and eat only the things I should but I know that in the end it will be worth the effort. Thanks for the encouragement! Sweetums |

East Bay here
Hi there - I am in the East Bay - San Ramon to be exact. I have been doing the Atkins diet now since May of 2003. In June I stopped the diet all together. Im not exactly sure why, but i guess i just wasn't ready for that type of lifestyle. In July, I still cheated alot. But as of August, Ive stayed on it faithfully, and as of November 1st I had lost a total of 25lbs, 4 pant sizes, and 1 size top!
I havn't weighted myself at all this month. I told myself that I would wait until the day before thanksgiving to step on a scale. And if i lost 6lbs by then, i would splurge on Thankgiving and eat what i wanted. I deserve it I think! I think ive made my goal too...or im at least close to it! Because 2 weeks ago, i tried on a pair of size 14 jeans and they were tight on me. Well this beautiful morning i put them on for work and they fit so comfortably! They were even baggy in some places! It was the best feeling! Now i have set another mini goal for Christmas this year. I want to fit in a size 12 by that time. Wish me luck! The loss has definetly motivated me to stick with this WOE. I feel that it is the best way to lose weight! It is the only thing that has ever worked for me. Id love to hear back from any of you. I love this BB, the posts are very motivational. Have a great day!

Hi Bay Area folks...
I'm in Santa Rosa, started doing this WOE in about Septemberish but discovered six weeks later (after losing and gaining the same 5-7 pounds) that I was using a lot of Schwan's meats that had all kinds of bad stuff in them! DAMN...so did two weeks of induction again and am trying to stay around induction level carbs for now. Maybe we could start a Bay Area group or NoCal group or something! I'd like to lose 50 pounds (or maybe more...talk about optimistic!). I'm 56 (boy that looks old in print) soon to be another year older...but would like to go down fighting!

Hi, it has been a while! Thanksgiving has come and gone! I am still trying, it is really like a battle. everyone says how proud they are but then they pass the cake, cookies, and candy! I tell people what I am doing, but then they tell me, "How can you do that" and what are you thinking"! Holidays are sooooooo tuff!!!!
