Southern girl looking for fun weight-loss encouragement

Hey! I am a single mom from Mississippi looking for a great e-pal friendship. Hoping to share a lot of laughs, mutual weight-loss support, and success stories. I have many varied interests, and love meeting new people. I've been on Atkins for a little over two months now, and have had tremendous success, and am looking to bring some fun into this roller-coaster ride. I've got a great journey ahead of me, but my goal is to ride a REAL roller coaster with my son next summer. Hoping to meet a male or female with a great sense of humor. Looking forward to hearing from you...and good luck on your weight loss success!

Hello Fellow Southern gal

I'm also a Mississippian. My husband and I are doing atkins together. We did Atkins a few years ago..lost some weight, went back to carbs and I gained mine all back and then some, he gained a little over half of his back. So we've learned our lesson that carbs are the enemy and we need to really take control of what we eat.

I've been on Atkins almost 2 weeks and have lost 9 lbs. Hubby's been on about a week...he didn't want to be on for Halloween and wanted one last sunday meal at my mom's house

The last time we were on atkins all of the motvation just dropped out one day...I'm hoping not to repeat it this time...that's why I signed up here to make sure I can stay focused and offer and get support from others.

Which rollercoaster do you plan on riding next summer? I haven't been on that many..but I did enjoy the one at Jazzland in New Orleans...can't remember it's name but it was fun...actually rode it more than once not bad for someone terrified of heights...

Your stats are looking great...I love this WOE...I have so much more energy and think I have a better attitude on everything.

Hey, Lynn!

Thanks so much for your note! It's so good to know that I'm not the only one trying to resist our great Southern cooking! Listen, I KNOW what it is to sit down to Sunday dinner, so I can't blame your husband. And, the Halloween candy is still hanging around, calling my name. My son got a huge stash this year, but I don't think he cares about it nearly as much as I do. All those Hershey bars!

The roller coaster? Well, it's going to be "The Hulk" at Universal. We went there last summer and had a blast. But, he was too little and I was too big! So, next summer, hopefully he and I will be giving each other high-fives as we climb into those seats. My son is an incredible kid, and I feel so guilty for not being able to do things with him that most moms can. So, to be honest, I've started on Atkins more for him than for me. I want him to have a full life...and that is up to me.

Well, I'm going to let you go...gotta get ready for church. Then, ANOTHER Sunday dinner at Grandma's. Wish me luck!

Thanks again for replying, and hope you have a fantastic week. Don't cheat!!

Hi Alisa,

well I made it through Sunday dinner at my mom's. She's on atkins too so that helps a lot...plenty of meats and low carb veggies and even SF jello for dessert.

Universal Studios sounds like a fun place. I can relate to wanting to get weight off to feel more like doing things. We're trying to have our first child and sometimes I imagine if a baby was here and I think I'm so tired most of the time, what do I have to offer? but I'm so glad that's not the case on atkins. I have soooo much more energy. Yesterday I came off induction but will probably eat like induction until Joe is off of it...since he has another week.

well I hope Sunday went well at your Grandma's. I'm looking forward to the holidays but dreading them also..so many sweets. I'm going to bring my own low carb for thanksgiving and I may do that at christmas as well. there are so many good recipes from this site.
