Man in Oklahoma needs HELP!!!
I have been on the induction part of the Atkins plan for 2 weeks. I did great the first week, didn't cheat, lost 5 pounds, feel great.
This second week has been a different story. I have had sweet cravings and have cheated almost daily with a handful of cookies. Does anyone have any advice? |

Advice
Drink loads of water and get out of the kitchen.
Question: Why are you setting yourself up to fail. Get those high carb foods (flour, sugar, candy, sodas) out of your house. It is said, that when the body craves, it is really craving water. Try to drink 64-80 ounces of water a day. Drink 16 ounces as soon as your feet hits the floor in the AM with your vitamins, then drink 16 ounces every 1 1/2 hours until 4 hours before bed, then stop. You don't want to be up all night. We have all been there, we set ourselves up to fail, when we get an urge, we make sure we don't have to go far because we have those things that Dr. Atkins says to get rid of still in our house. Don't be hard on yourself, think of it as a stumble. Now get back on track. It is no easy ride the first 14 days, you will have days when you think "if I don't get something sweet I am going to die" Your body is going through it's withdrawal at this point, I guess kind of like a drug addicted user. Trust me, it will pass in 48 hours, you just have to stick with it. Eat a piece of meat and drink water and try not to think about the sweet. If that doesn't work, get yourself a packet of Splenda and pour it slowly on your tongue and savor the flavor (try to get a least 3 pours out of that packet) and drink some water and take yourself away from the kitchen, go for a walk. Know that you CAN DO IT, YOU HAVE TO DO IT -- IF FOR NOTHING ELSE, YOUR HEALTH. You deserve to be good to you. If you need help, please stop by PEN PALS ARE NEEDED FOR MY 1-2-3 PLAN or even look up Ohio Ron, you might can relate to him because you might tend to bond with a male better right now. Whichever way you go, just know we are all on the same journey, and while we are never 100% all the time, just pick yourself up and get back on it at the very next meal and don't look back on your failures. Go forward with a NEW DETERMINATION! Linda Last edited by MustDoIt : 11-06-2003 at 06:47 AM. |
