Single Mother of 2

I just turned 30 a week ago tomorrow. I've been on my own with my 2 kids for about 4-5 years now. I've suffered with depression and low self-esteem and am trying to get through that. I need to lose about 60lbs and finding it really hard. So I was seriously thinking about trying this but still not sure. Any suggestions will come in handy so hope to hear from you

Hey Wendy,

The thing I've found most amazing about the low-carb WOL, is how easy it is. I've lost over 50 lbs in 6 months, and never felt deprived at all. I'm here everyday if you need someone to talk to.

Take Care

Hi again

Hi nms thanks for your reply. I've tried different weight loss programs and none of them have helped me because I've ended up cheating or not following through with them. I'm not sure how I could handle going without the things like carbs sugars caffeine etc......How does a person get through that?
Hope to hear from you

the induction phase is what will help you get over your addiction of carbs you will be amazed at how great you will feel after 2-3 days of induction I am alos a mom of 2 toddlers and I now get out with them alot more than I used to I also now want to get up and do my mile walk (with winter coming I need to find an alternitive)just stick to the plan and you will notice a difference read the rules of induction in DANDR

alternative to walking outside

Hi Nikki,

Try Leslie Sansons walk away the pounds 1, 2 and 3 mile tapes they are wonderful. I live in seattle so I know all about the rain....
I actually feel like I get a better walking work out when I do them than when I walk outside.

Michele.

Wendy,
The thing about other diets is you never lose the cravings for all that stuff you shouldn't have, you have to not eat it by willpower alone. With atkins, you lose the cravings for the sugar, carbs, etc. after just 2-3 days, which makes it easier to stick to the plan. Just remember "no cheats", this is only hard in the very beginning, it gets easier and easier.

Feel free to pm me anytime!

PS Wendy - about 4-5 months or so ago, when I was fairly new to low-carb WOL myself, I responded to a question very similar to yours. This woman had tried all the diets and was afraid to try another one and fail. I just got a pm from her last week, (hadn't heard anything since the post), and she said she was so glad she tried it, she had lost 30 pounds so far!

Hi All

Thanks for all the great advice I guess I'm not geared up enough to keep going. I just don't seem to have the will power yet to start things off. But I'm sure I'll give it a try soon

Wendy,

If you're having trouble getting started on a strict plan, you can always start off slower by just cutting back on your sugar, white flours, rice and potatoes, without counting carbs. Some people find it easier to "ease" into it. Hope you find something that works for you!

Thanks nms

Maybe I could cut back on alot of things but I also think with me trying to walk more might also help. I will give it a try and see where that will take me. Who knows maybe I will even like it lol
Well take care talk to you soon.

looken, I started this wol 7/9/03, at the age of 50 and being 300lbs most of my life,I thought this is impossiable....well here it is 16 weeks later and I'm down 36lbs... I eased into this ,started by giving up my 2 severings of ice cream every night, and then breads then pasta and then sweets and to my surprize it was easy, now I feel bad if I eat something thats high in carbs,,,, Depression and that low self esteem faded and even some medical problems got better.(3 blood pressure meds. now I'm taking only 1)I don't know why I waited so long to try this, my daughter did this wol and dropped 60lbs in 6 mths. so I had a exsample to follow, but like you ,I just didn't think I could do it.Today I bought my first pair of pants in a size 2x from 4xs ,what a thrill......I still want to loss another 80lbs and I can see that happening......I get disappointed when the scale don't move as fast as I would like it too, but then I come here to these great broads and everyone helps you get over the blues and you get that "I can do this feeling, and pick up and start again. GOOD LUCK TO YOU<

Hi Moriah,

Just wanted to say that your words are an inspiration...
Great job on your current weight loss and keep up the good work. I have found that easing into it is easier for me also. Granted you dont always lose as fast as some but thats ok.

Michele.
