A really stupid ?

Ok, this might be a very stupid question, but I am going to ask it anyway.

Is it possible that if our bodies are used to an enormous number of carbs and if we eat a certain percent less (not the 20 per day for induction as stated) than usual, we can still be in ketotis and lose weight?

There are several reasons I am asking this question. First off, I used to eat an unbelievable amout of carbs. I started this woe a week ago yesterday and am very happy to say that I have already lost 7 lbs, almost 3 inches. I am following the induction, but (I am not proud to say) I have cheated quite a few times. I was sure I would slip out of ketosis and stop lossing, but I keep steadily losing daily. I am having a real hard time staying away from carbs, but i'm working on it.

So that is the reason for my question. Because of the enormous amount of carbs i used to consume, could it be that my threshold is higher than 20 carbs a day inorder to be in ketosis?

Hope this Helps

Hi:

Because you have cut back on carbs, your body may still be burining fat, but we don't want to give you the idea that this is ok to still cheat. You are definitely in the "LUCK" department.

You can still get back on track and not lose sight of your goal, as I too am a carb addict, and while it is hard, it is doable. You have to just buckle down and bite the bullet.

If you get a sweet tooth, try drinking Cinnamon Apple Tea with 2 different types of sweeteners and sip it slowly, or take a packet of Spleda and pour it directly( at least get 3 pours per packet) onto your tongue and savor the sweetness, then drink 16 ounces of water and come out of the kitchen.

Tip: If you don't have the NO-NO Foods in your cupboards, you can't necessarily cheat. Clean out all the NO-NO and think positive. YOU CAN DO IT!

If you need support and motivation and need to chat about it, please feel free to stop by PEN PALS NEEDED FOR MY 1-2-3 PLAN. We are all heading in the same direction as you and we are all not perfect, but when we get stressed, there is always someone there to help us along.

Have a great lowcarb day, and don't beat yourself up over the slip, just try not to make those slips a daily habit, and you will lose.

Linda,

Thanks for your reply!

I know it’s not ok to cheat, and I feel horrible when I do. I too am thinking this is beginners luck and it will only be a matter of time till my luck runs out. When I put on a pair of shorts today that Iwas able to wear 2 weeks ago I was ecstatic and that helped give me strength to fight off those carb monsters I was just wondering if there was anything to my theory, logically it makes sense to me. Lol

I don’t find myself missing sweets as much as potatoes and pasta. Being a chocoholic I never thought I would find myself saying that either. Thanks for the suggestions, I will keep them in mind.

Although I rarely ever cheat, I did notice that the weight just melted off at first, and now it is much, much slower. So while it's working for you now, getting into the right habits early on will help you stick to your WOE when the rate of loss slows down in the future. Good luck!
