slipping and sliding
I have been LCing for about 3 weeks now and everything was going along great. I have some co-workers who are trying to sabotage me because of their own failures but I was getting around that. I'm trying to keep myself off the scales, but today I went and looked and I've gained almost 2 lbs since tuesday. Now I'm starting to feel really crummy. I'm not eating too many carbs, and last night was the first time I'd had any sf candies (about 10 candy coated peanuts from carbolite). I just couldn't believe the scales went up. I've been sick for about 2 weeks, bronchitis trying to turn into pnuemonia, but I'm better now. I'm going to start doing my pilates again tonight. I guess I just need a little more support right now. My DF tries, but he isn't LCing with me, so it's tough for him to be 100% supportive. I'm making it my goal to drink every bit of my water this weekend, and I'm not going to step on a scale again for at least 2 weeks. Anyone have any other advise? I could use all I can get right now. I don't want to give up, but it's starting to get hard.

Don't be Hard On Yourself.. The best of us Slip Every Now and Then
Hi:
I am writing to tell you to pick yourself up and keep going for the gold. The weight that you are retaining is most likely water weight, it seems sugar holds water. Don't lose sight of where you want to go, just keep doing the right things and everything will pan out. If you need motivation and support, please feel free to stop by and chat with my group at PEN PALS NEEDED FOR MY 1-2-3 PLAN. We have many people who like yourself have fallen off the wagon and gotten back on. Our goal is to move forward. You can do it, just start back lowcarbing ASAP, so the scale won't go up anymore. Tip: Pay more attention to the tape measurer and not y our scale as it will go up and down as your body tries to get adjusted to the new things that are happening with your body. Have a great lowcarb day. Linda ![]() ![]() |

I've never stopped LCing. I would'nt even let myself skip meals while I was sick, because I knew I'd just end up feeling worse. It's just getting harder to stick with. still haven't gone over 20g carbs a day though.

Hang in there Morrin
Hi Morrin,
Just stick to it..Linda is right. Its probably just water weight or if its that "time" its harder to lose. I noticed that we are both about the same height and weight and have about the same goal weight set. If you would like we could be buddies through this. I started the 15th and have lost 8 lbs so far which I get excited about until I read of those who lose like 20lbs in 2 wks. But my 8 gone is 8 gone and this wed it will be officially my 2 wks. Try not to get all into the scale either. It can be a distraction. Instead use the measurements. I did this WOL about 5 yrs ago and lost about 40 in 3 months so it does work. Unfortunately I went back to how I ate before. If you must get on the scale try getting on every other week. Also what works for me is I pick a favorite pair of pants or a skirt that zippers or buttons that doesnt fit and try it on every week to see how close I am getting to fitting back into it. Thats the exciting part, not the lbs lost. Inches to me is what counts. And exercise helps too. It will come off faster if you are giving your fat burning a little kick in the butt. Plus it makes you feel better. I love the Leslie Sansons Walk Away the Pounds 1,2,3 mile tapes. They are great and very useful if you live in a rainy state like I do. Like I said keep up what you are doing...oh also, try keeping a daily journal...it is very helpful to me. I write every thing I put in my mouth and also just thoughts and feelings. I have it on my nightstand so I just write in it before I go to bed. Good luck and don't give up. These threads are filled with people who understand.
