Ho! Ho! Ho! got you down?
Okay, I used that one before! Mmmommmy, you out crankied me! Isn't it funny how funny someone else is when they are cranky? Get that spoon out of your mouth! It may feel good tonight, but it gonna be bad tomorrow!
Cryssi, you join our club and you kind of venture out as we get boring and talk to other folks, too! Any questions you have about program have probably been answered somewhere. There is a thread thing on bottom right of Forum page that you can type in a subject to look up! I live in Odessa, came from Indep., and shop the whole Greater KC area! LCSS is on Vivian Rd. in Riverside (easy to find) and at College Blvd and Metcalf in the same little shopping strip mall that La Pepe and Panera Bread are in. Try the La Nouba chocolate (I love white) and the Natural Oven bread (has real whole wheat in it). That is what I went after and Mmmommmy, I had two so you need to tell me to put my knife down. Oh.....it slid out of my hand because it was covered in butter! I agree about that friends things. Bestest! Savak, you said you went to ER but didn't say what happened? Is it hip or knee or tendon or what? You know even if you figured out how to get the pictures on some of us can't figure how to look at them! Ahhhhhhh, technology! Twins, is it now SS instead of TT? I forgot a while ago to tell you, yes nothing is cuter than a two year old in diapers unles it would be two of them! Well, the show was on the other night and this was a repeat! It is supposed to be on this Spring every week. Night All! |

Hi All
Wow all this talk of restaurants that we have here in Springfield makes me want to go out to eat. Which I do way too often as it is, but the Dh and I made a New Years Resolution to cook more at home. Ugh! Zio's...yummy! They have the most wonderful grilled salmon. Amazingly enough a couple of my coworkers were just telling me about Mexican Villa too. I guess I need to figure out how to try it.
Cryssi - where at in SoCal. I just moved from there myself. Talk about culture shock. Completely different life here. Savak - have you found a lot of opportunity in MO for obedience and Rally-0? We are still working on getting into that loop of communication. How old is your Belgian? What was the surgery for? Is that your only type of dog or are there others? Isme - your DIL works at a different site from me. I will keep my eye out for her! I hope your crankiness rectifies itself soon! I know I finally told DH today to just take our son to the Incredible Pizza Company and leave me on my own, as I was in the mood to fight and knew it wasn't his fault. He should have listened. He would still be intact if he had! (Just kidding, he is on the couch watching tv...big surprise there!) Well, it is late and I am going to try to not sleep in tomorrow. Although if I do I won't be crying about it! It has been a hard week to stay on plan and lots of stress at work and it all turns out to be one big excuse for letting myself down. Not like a major carb binge but just enough that I unless I carve a pound of fat off of a thigh....I won't be meeting this weeks goal. I dusted myself off this a.m., went shopping, worked out, cleaned house and paid for my transgressions. This is going to be a much cleaner week and I will not be falling off the wagon...dang it! Amy

Chief's down! Don't you all be, too!
Amy, call my DIL, she knows you are there somewhere. She loves to talk dogs and could probably tell you who to talk to about Rally O.
Yes, I am much nicer now (been to church and a potluck that I didn't cheat at), and tried the Subway Wraps, grade is OK. Didn't cheat or go off program yesterday. Scale still stuck! I need to move my body about more! Just came home from our baby Walmart SS and they now have LC, big time! Even had all the diet rite flavor samples! I liked the red rasberry, tangerine wasn't bad, don't like kiwi strawberry, white grape is good! After kidney episode, I am trying to clean up my drinking and limit my caffein to morning coffee and one can of diet coke. So doing diet seven up and flavors for fun. |

Gotta Share!
I had to take DS to Braums tonight. He had won a free ice cream at school and we either went there, where I could also grab a dozen eggs OR DH was going to FORCE me to go to Andy's. You guys know about Andy's. Singing - "Andy's makes it fun to go on a binge for awhile!" Oi' Vey! The place is deadly!
Anywho! Went to Braums. They have "carbwatch". 2-3 grms per serving depending upon the type of ice cream you get. I got the chocolate chip. Oh my! It was SOOOOO GOOD! Blew the icy le carb stuff out of the water. Creamy and absolutely sinful. I even told my husband I think they may have mistakenly put regular ol' choc chip in the freezer. So, when purchasing my eggs I also bought a pint of chocolate pecan and stole a little taste on the way home. Not quite as good, but still pretty darn close. Highly recommend Braums Carbwatch if you have one nearby. Also made a beachgirls chocolate peanut butter cup cheesecake. I cut it into 24 slivers instead of 12. That puts it at 5 carbs instead of 10. I figure it will be a good breafkast this week. Why not? DH said it tasted like a reeses pb cup. Isme- which wrap did you get? I liked them. Gave them high marks! The chicken bacon with banana peppers was really good. I think I am over at your DIL's office building this week sometime. If so, I will hunt her down and say hi. Is she young/middle-age or....I'm 33 is she close in age? I know TOM is on its way as I am obviously food obsessed and the scale ain't budging. I better go find something constructive to do! Amy |

Cryssi welcome to the Missouri club. Hope you like living in our state. Know it has to be a lot different from Southern California but it really is a good place to live.
Amy does Andy's have any no sugar custard? One of our local frozen custard places has a vanilla one that I like better than the regular. Will have to try the Braums low carb. Not that I need to eat any of it. Do you work for the Spfd school system? I used to teach down in Ozark and then finally here in Joplin. Isme if you are having kidney problems, step away from the caffeine. They threatened to put me on dialysis eight years ago because my kidneys weren't functioning correctly. Gave up my caffeine cold turkey and haven't had a single problem since. Found out if you are in enough pain and they threaten you with such stuff you can quit just about any thing and quickly too. The stomach sucker is what I call basically a girdle. I have so much extra skin from the boys that something has to hold it in place. Such a lovely thing to look at. I don't wear it very often because it isn't the most comfortable thing in the world but it isn't bad. My nurse friends next door tell me I'd better wear it or I'm at risk for getting a hernia. Tammy we used to go to KC all the time. Then we got old, married, and then children and that has stopped. We are coming up in February to go see Stomp. We went to see The Blue Man Group this fall. We don't have any place here for groups to perform so we usually pick KC to go visit. Gives DH a good excuse to go eat at Feorella's Jack Stack BBQ. Yum, burnt ends. Imagine when the boys are bigger we will go more often to the museums and things. Did I tell you all about watching the boys tape from their first few days of life? Know the first shot? It's a picture of my naked, humongeous, red stretch-marked belly that DH swore he deleted. Guess I can always prove I was whale sized. Needless to say that tape is not going to be viewed often.Had a great day shopping at Kohl's with my mom. Have a great evening everyone.

Hey everyone, hope everyone is doing great. I've been a busy girl this weekend.
Amy~Rally O is an AKC obedience competion where the dog enters the ring and there is a course set up using signs that tells the handler what exercise to do. Rally is a little more laid back and you can talk to your dog, it is a timed event. It's alot of fun and the 4-H kids like it alot. BCarter~are you still out there? Hope everyone has a great week. Yeah, Bcarter, come out, come out!
Amy, she is, I think, 36 or 37, dark brown hair, sweet, and skinny! Tell her about Braums and I may be down to visit her. She should have pics of Boston Terriers on her desk.
Twins, one of my favorite pics of my dd is the day after she had my 14 year old dgs and she had toxemia bloat. Big round face. By the next day or two it was all gone. She is slim, normally. LOL, I thought SS was TT, oh well! I still remember girdles but didn't know you youngsters did. My caffein intake is way down and I am thinking of gone with it. Anyone else up? I'm going down, myself! ![]() Last edited by Isme : 01-11-2004 at 09:33 PM. |

I'm up now if that counts Isme. Might as well have stayed up and cleaned house last night. Couldn't sleep. Hate when that happens. Hope it's not going to be a long stretch of sleeplessness.
Boys have been really funny today. Funny is their new favorite word as in, Ike's funny (they say Ike eee long e) Daddy's funny, clocks funny, etc. We crawled like bears, slithered like snakes, tried to get them to crab walk but they so didn't get how I was doing it. Think I might have gotten a little exercise in this morning. Okay, have to tell a DH story. Last night when I came home he informed me that he had straightened up while I was gone. I asked where standing in the middle of the kitchen I had cleaned the night before with the dining room and living room. He said in here meaning the same area. Basically he cleaned by picking up the toys the three of them had drug out. Not my version of cleaning. Men...gotta love them. Oh, Isme your face picture reminds me of my feet after the boys. They were just huge, puffy, awful. My sis had painted my toe nails gold for me in the ICU to kill time and make me feel better. Gold for Christmas because I didn't care for any thing to look red like blood at that point. I videoed our Christmas and got a good shot of my feet. I was laughing about them in the video. Sure your DIL doesn't love that picture as much as you do. Where are the rest of us today? Come out and play. |

I'm here!
Watching fat people on Dr. Phil and Oprah now! I have a friend who wants stomach stapled. I am so afraid she would die. She is ready to start program again and I am going to get her on the BB and everything. Had to cancel today because dd had to go to dr. Babysitting 2 year old dgs, twins, who I am now going to call dgs2, and older one, dgs14. Clever?
Played round and round the basement on scooter (imagine fat grma going round and round basement on harley scooter). Boy, that gets ones heart racing. I don't know if I can do crab walk! It was my dd's face. She was talking about her huge ankles with dgs2, the other day. Boy, they were! Would like pictures of them though with gold toes! Now that would be a sight. Funny how that skin stretches and goes back. My ankles sure look better after 45 pounds. 40 more pounds I might find ankle bones. I will be babysitting in AM again. Think I am going to go in to see her Sonogram being done cause I want to see baby. She invited me and wasn't going to but really want to so will. Dh is taking short trip to Iowa tomorrow. Keep working on yours. Remember, baby steps. Mine is so good now to help or maybe I should say I help him. He is twice as fast as me. Dgs2 is sleeping. Basketball game before long for dgs14. I love basketball so whether he plays or not it is great. Those football games are not near as good and hate the outside part in bad weather. As soon as we get done with bb, it will be time for baseball and summer camps and a new baby (hopefully). See what you have coming up times two? |

Getting fatter every day
Morning all, I am gaining weight like you wouldn't believe. I've actually gained all the atkins weight lost. It took 6 months to lose that 15 pounds and only 1 month to gain it back. The thing is, I haven't cheated this week and still gained 2 pounds. I am not exercising anymore because of work schedule and eat large volumes out of stress, I guess. I know that when I do cheat it is all stress related. I have a sick child today, so there will be no work for me, so I will clean house instead. That will be productive. Anyway, that ice cream sounds too yummy. I still haven't found le carb, but I did find the atkins endulge in the 1 pint size which is a little cheaper than in the individual serving cups. Dierbergs the other day had 1/2 gallons of some new low carb ice cream, but all they had left was strawberry (yuk) it is supposed to come in vanilla, choc and strawberry. I think the 1/2 gal was $5 or something like that. Cheap in low-carb terms. I need to get Emma ready for school, she isn't sick. Talk to you all later. Love, Cathy

ok for all of you that don't know...the cigs that were stolen are DH's. I won't touch the things.....
ISME...DON'T let your friend do the stapling thing...it isn't the answer!!!! I could preach on this for hours!!! I saw a program on the other night on Discovery health about different plastic surgeries (think it was called "Before and after") This one woman was such an inspiration and yet a scarey thing to face for me...she went from over 500 pounds to under 300. She was continuing to lose, but had massive skin hanging. They did a full body lift. They took off 35 pounds of skin!!! I was so amazed that skin could weigh so much!!! I hope I don't have skin issues that extreme!! If anyone is familiar with Wal-mart in Eureka (west of st louis) they have a huge number of lc products!!! I was so excited to find soo many new things... ok...I have to take the kiddos to lunch....be back soon.... |

did anyone every say who Michael Eisner was? It that the guy from the "Shield"?
oh and btw, an mp3 player is like a cd player except you can get about 200 songs on one disc!! I am a total song junkie!! Doing well back on the plan...I'm about 4 pounds up from my low...so I guess I can't complain... I had a killer migrane yesterday...I think it had to do with the weather...but it made me want to throw-up!! Alimar...I took the nails off. I had one pop off, and you know how it goes from there...my nails feel really thin...so I think I am going to wait a little while to put more on...I might need them for interviewing if jeff county doesn't pass the two bond/tax items on April's ballot! I'm trying to devise a kid's menu for atkins style eating. Any suggestions? Lunch is our biggest problem...of course. No refrigeration of lunches so I worry about sending some stuff that may spoil like cottage cheese which my little one loves!! Speaking of little one...he had a little performance at school. After the first song, he starts bowing and saying thank you...thank you very much...then he turns toward me and blows me a kiss and says "love ya mommy" he turns to the kid next to him and says "that's my mom" I was dying!! He is such a ham! May be a star in the making!! Sure isn't bashful! Ok, back to work!! |

pac - michael eisner is the president of disney corporation. i guessed i missed the conversation about your nails, but i had them for six months until january of 03, then had them removed to breathe a couple of weeks. they were in horrible shape and i decided i would not do that again. my nails still are not healed from the damage - i'm guessing the bed is damaged and i may never have nice natural nails again. my nails were not bad to begin with is the worst part - i just was experiencing a break here and there and decided to try it. live and learn. how old are your kids? i think for kids lunches if we just stop sending twinkies and the like that will help. mayo and mustard can be purchased in individual packets at wholesale clubs - are your kids old enough that if you roll up meat and cheese they can squirt some on it? my aunt sent me low carb peanut butter from PA, i cannot find it here. do your kids like celery - i sometimes put a little of my peanut butter on a stick and it is very good! do they like sugar free jello? that is all we eat anymore - just as good as jello loaded with sugar! most kids love string cheese - i have noticed at wal-mart you can even buy cheese cut in shapes. my kids eat the school lunch - DS #2 is quite overweight and i encourage him to get salad at least 2 or 3 days a week. at home we rarely have any high carb items - chips for a special treat and miles did ask me to buy some rice krispies treats the other day. meals are "lower" carb for them also - they do eat bread and drink milk - soda is mostly diet at home except matthew - he will not drink it and absolutely has to have his dr. pepper. he has neurological disorders - tourette/ocd/add/asperger's, so i don't push on these things. at least i know their carbs are cut way down since september. did you videotape your son's program? i love your story and he sounds precious!
pokee, sorry to here that you had a setback, especially if you were not off program. please keep us posted and we will be here for you. isn't it weird how stress can affect so many things in our lives? LOL isme - sounds like your life is so busy - but sounds like you're enjoying it! guess we're getting another cold blast this week - i have two boys home sick today - #1 and #2 - #2 and #3 were home yesterday. i have to call dr. and get matthew in tomorrow - he has been sick since saturday night. matthew and miles went to my mom and dad's and when i picked him up he was sooooo congested. my dad and brother smoke and i wonder if because he has been sick this winter if that just irritates his sinuses. twins, i bet those boys just keep you laughing! and as far as cleaning house goes, i am surrounded by men and i know exactly what you mean. i tried to watch that low carb show this week but spa chefs was on. i must've had the wrong time. darn. take care everyone and see you soon! |

Hi Ladies
I just found your thread, and I've enjoyed reading all of your posts! I feel like I already know all of you!! Would you mind if I joined you? I live in St.Louis. Married, No kids, Work-a-holic! I've been LC'n for a year now! I had tried every diet imagineable! I've lost 75 so far, 25-30 more to go!! YEAH! I'm sooo close to goal, but it seems sooo much harder!! Perhaps, cuz I didn't really pay attention to the weight loss until my friends were giving me trouble about wearing clothes a few sizes to big. Now, that I'm this close.. It just seems like it's harder. I can't seem to say NO to that 1 or 2 bites of Carbs if they are on my husbands plate or in the fridge! (no, he won't do this diet with me) Help! FYI-I went to Walmart in W.County and they had a TON of Low-carb stuff..Just started doing the atkins shakes..Tastes like Slim-fast. Net 2grms The Powdered stuff has a medicine taste to it. ICK! Russel Stover came out with LowCarb TURTLES!! YUMMY!! Thanks for listening! Have a great day! Cyn |

Welcome Cyn. Sure you can get a few laughs out of reading our posts. Hope we can offer you some support. You have lost so much already. I know what you mean about being so close to goal. You just want it all to drop off and be there. IT will come.
Pacyoung, your DS sounds like a big ham. That just sounds so cute. He obviously doesn't mind having lots of attention on stage. About lunches, can you pack a little ice pack in there? Then you could send things that need to stay cool. A thermos would keep things pretty warm if you wanted to send soup or even a hot dog if they like those. Put hot water in it and the hot dog would stay warm until lunch. Have you tried Crockpot Pizza Soup with your family? Mine love it and it would be easy to put in a Thermos and great for winter. Use the low carb tortillas instead of bread for sandwhiches. It's hard to think of things that could go in a lunch that's low carb. Cathy sorry that you are having the fun of sick children now. I think extra stress adds pounds on. Hopefully they will drop off more quickly this time. WHat program are you following just out of curiousity not that it's any of my business? I have done great after switching to South Beach but that because I can have fruits and whole grains. Wow mmommy. You have quite a challenge with Matthew. I wouldn't push him on the Dr. Pepper either. That would throw off his whole day missing that one detail and I know that always seems to send them into a tailspin. Isme what are you up to today? I guess if your friend truly wants to have her stomach stapled there isn't much you can do. Hope she has all the facts and understands it isn't a quick or even permenant fix. Granted Al Roker looks wonderful but even he will say it took work. No magic pills for make us thin. What are you all doing with your clothes as you undergrow them? I have a pile of stuff I'm not going to wear again but it's all good. MOst of it only a year or two old. Better run. |

Welcome to our group Jeanette. I had to go look up where Galena was. I could get you to Galena, Kansas easily but wasn't postitive on MO. You aren't too far from me. You have to be one busy lady to have four children that you are parenting solo. When are you planning your wedding for?
I have identical twin boys who just turned two in December. Life with twins is nothing if not busy! Net carbs are the carbs left after you subtract the fiber grams. Those are what Atkins called the carbs that count. Some people even subtract the sugar alchohol grams too but not everyone agrees on that. Most products that aren't specifically made for low carbers don't list sugar alchohol any way so it's tricky. It's getting late and I'm going to turn into a pumpkin soon. Chat with everyone tomorrow. |

Tammy-- Hi! Thanks for the welcome
Julie-- There is a Galena MO..I swear it!! LOL I grew up there and came back after the divorce. Where are you located....if you don't mind me asking that is? Well we aren't sure about a wedding date yet...we have talked about possibly Aug/Sept. He teaches school so he has June/July/Aug off each year (but does side printing job...workaholic) OK..net carbs...just subtract the fiber from the carbs? Sounds easy. I had been just using the total carbs when I chose food. That might give me more low carb options! (you can only eat so much bacon and eggs...gag) Anyone have any great EASY food ideas? I am not much of a cook and of course I have absolutely NO time. Just want things I can pop in the oven or microwave (I'm so lazy!) Have a great day everyone!! Jeanette |

MISSOURI IS REALLY TALKING!
Somehow I got unlogged again. Bad puter. Waste of time.
Can't talk now. Welcome MX4 and ShopnCyn (me too on that shopping thing). This is the nicest, friendliest, most helpful, most supportive thread you will find. Like that answer from Twins on Net Carbs. It was so well written. Be back tonight, hopefully! See Ya All!! ![]() |
