Im from the Eastgate area....Ive been back on strong 2.5 weeks now and to my suprise I am doing quite well. I heard today from my boss that his roomate works at Buskens in Hyde Park and they have low carb bread 5.5 carbs a slice.... It was in the paper in the past 30 days they have sold 2500 loaves of bread.
Its picking up in our area...
I would love to talk with anyone wanting to talk or anyone who needs a lil support.....

My stats have changed! woo hooooooooo!!!!!!!!

I am starting my 2nd week of induction so I have not tried anything that is not on Atkins' induction list. I think it would be weird now to eat bread lol...even low carb stuff!

Hi Fellow Buckeyers! Hope you don't mind if I come in here too

I'm Lisa from the Mason area looking for some motivation and keeping it.

I've seen that Busken bakery sign @ Hyde Park. I'm going to start the South Beach low carb diet this weekend. I've been doing Atkins off and on for the past year and just can't keep with it, so hopefully this will work for me.

Do you guys have any thoughts or suggestions for me to stick with it this time around????

TIA!

Greetings from the Clifton area (Cincinnati). Congrats on the stats changing Niki!

Wow, I didn't know about Buskins. Personally, I have a ritual now of going to Bilker's on Kenwood road after our training walks on Saturdays. The owner's wife has been on Atkins for about 4 years, and she makes low carb desserts that they sell from the deli (including low carb cheesecake in individual muffin size servings - YUM!!!) They also will make up deli sandwiches on low carb bread, and they have great deli meats!

The thing that has helped me stick to this the most (and I've never stuck to any diet before, ever) is a wholesale attitude change on my part. Instead of beating myself up for every little cheat, I've given myself "leeway" - I eat a range of carbs, not a carved-in-stone number. And, if I eat something a little higher carb at one meal, I don't say "well, I just blew the day", I just say, "well the next meal will be better". It's getting back to it right away, not falling into despair and depression.

Also, I've been reading a terrific book called "Life is Hard, Food is Easy" about emotional eating that has really helped me identify some of my triggers and pit-falls. I highly recommend it.

Hope that helps!

Eu

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Life has been crazy here. I have spent most of my online time reading and searching for recipes, with a few posts here and there on the main lc board. It is nice to meet all of you and I hope to get to know you better.

Today is my 14th day of induction. I was getting terribly bored with my food choices, so I lightened up on myself just today. I still indend to stay with the induction numbers for a while, but not being quite so strict. I allowed myself some sunflower seeds and a few olives and a salad dressing that I actually LIKE! lol It contains a little sugar, but in 2 T., just how much sugar is one actually getting? Not enough to make myself miserable for.

I think the important thing is to do the plan that works for YOU. I was okay towards the beginning of induction, but got to the point where I just was not at all happy with the food I was eating. I had to literally "choke" some of it down. It gagged me! I didn't want to eat and I dreaded meal time.

I think you really need to identify what your pitfalls are and why you really have trouble sticking with a certain plan. Then attack the pitfall rather than abandoning the plan

I am just starting my third week. My first two weeks of induction were at 1/2 the carbs I should have been eating, so now I am beginning induction the RIGHT way lol. I was just so afraid I was gonna go over my 20 grams, I kept the carbs WAY low. The past few days my weight has fluctuated greatly! I am thinking TOM is on his way I never measured myself, so I am thinking I better do that tonight, cuz I am feeling smaller, but the scale isn't showing it. I have lost 12 pounds so far! YIPPEE!

Good Morning All!

Hiya Ohioans!

Well I started the SBD Saturday and I feel really good. I need to start doing some type of exercise now.

How much does everyone "want" to lose by Thanksgiving?

I would like to lose at least 10 lbs **Fingers Crossed**

Have a good day everybody!!!

Let's see, today is Wednesday the 5th, and Thanksgiving is on Thursday the 27th, which makes it 3 weeks + 1 day away. If I'm at 190 tomorrow (which I sincerely hope...I've been hovering near it all week)...I think I can reasonably hope to be at 180 by Thanksgiving (which is 10 lbs for me, too). Not a HUGE goal, but probably an attainable one. I've learned to keep my goals modest, and then I can be pleasantly surprised if I exceed them, rather than make them too big and get disappointed in myself.

I think I'll add that to my siggy. Thanks for the push to decide on a goal, New Chick!

I'd also like to drop another 10 pounds by Thanksgiving. I agree with keeping the goals modest. I am still too new at this to know what is a reasonable and attainable goal, so modesty is the best policy for me right now

Now I have to go look up recipes to see what on earth I am going to cook for ME this year!
