Alaska Pal or anyone interested

HI! My name is Jeanee and I live in Anchorage, Alaska.
I desperately would love to find someone for mutual support. If in the area, may getting together also.
I am brand new to all this. I have not even started the diet yet! I have no idea where to start! But I DO know that I want this program!

I will browse around here and check everything out.....

Hi,

My name is Kim, and I used to live in Anchorage. I've been doing atkins since July 5 and I've lost about 16 pounds. It's definitely worth doing, but I do recommend that you at least skim the book before starting. I had my reservations about doing this diet, because I am a nurse, and a high protein, high fat diet just didn't seem to make sense. Well, it does work. My husband did it for 6 months one time and lost a ton of weight. We're doing it together now, and it's nice to have the mutual support. Let me warn you, when you give up caffeine, sugar, and wheat, it does make you feel rather cruddy. After the first week, though, it's amazing how much better you'll feel, and how much more energy you'll have. Also, there's a lot of really helpful information and recipes on the Atkins website. It's worth checking out. Hope to hear back from you soon,

Kim (magickimbo)

Hi Kim!
Wow! you are doing great! 16 pounds in 19 days! Makes me excited about doing this!
What I have done is this.... Ediets has an Adkin's program and I am signing up for it this evening.
I tried ediets a long time ago and it also works but I went through some surg. and ended up quiting. Then my doc told me to not loose a great amount of weight if I wanted to concieve.
BUT, I just do not want to be this weight and it keep me from concieving too! Know what I mean?
So, I wrote ediets and asked for a discount on the rate and I would join. They sent me a message only a minute ago saying yes! Sooooo, off we go.
I have been in Alaska for 5 years now. Love it here.
Why did you leave?

Hi Jeanee,

Thanks for the encouragement. 16 pounds is just a drop in the bucket, considering what I have to lose, however, I'm dedicated this time and I really believe that I can do it. I think it's great that you're trying to lose weight so that you can have a healthier pregnancy. I'm a labor and delivery nurse, so it's a subject that's near and dear to my heart, so to speak. When I lived in Alaska, I was in Bethel for the first two years, then I worked at ANMC for five. I ended up leaving because I had just had a baby and my son's father chose not to be involved. It was a good move in the long run, because I came back to Virginia where my family is, and I ended up meeting my true love, my husband, who I married last fall. We have a 15 year old daughter (his) and a 5 year old son (mine). I'm already 35, and we're not sure if we're going to have an "ours" (a baby together). I agree with you, though, I don't want to carry a pregnancy at this weight. I was about 30 pounds lighter when I had my son, and even then I was really overweight. For the first time I have found a way of eating that is livable, easy, and I'm really seeing results. Make sure that you get the keto sticks so that you can check your urine for ketones. Ketones are a by product of fat metabolism, and seeing the stick change color is a nice motivator to stay with it. I've been on for almost 3 weeks and I haven't cheated once. Believe me, that's not my usual dieting style. Good luck with ediets and Atkins. It's the best "diet" I've ever been on. Hope to hear from you soon.
