Low-Carb Support in NJ

Hello...I am looking for someone I can connect with over email to help me stick with the low-carb lifestyle for good. I have been on a diet/deprivation rollercoaster for years, and this is the only approach that I can stick to and that actually WORKS.

I am a 28-year-old single female from NJ. I work in fast-paced, high stress environment and have escaped with food (mostly bagels, pasteries, pasta and chocolate) for the past 8 months, resulting in a 20 pound weight gain on top of the extra 20 pounds I started with! If you think we have something in common, please respond so we can support each other. Thanks!

Hi & Welcome!

I'm new myself...just started on the 19th! I'm not in NJ...but used to live there! Was born and raised in Wall Twp. I moved to Florida 2 years ago.

We are about the same age (I just turned 29) and also work in a high-paced, stressful environment! So I know what you mean!

Email me if you'd like - Kissyfur19@aol.com

Good luck!!

NJ connection

Hi! I'm from NJ too. I am 36. I am close to my goal weight because I only had about 10 pounds to lose, but I exercise a lot! I have been weight/diet conscious my whole life. I am enjoying the low carb lifestyle because it hlps me eliminate certain weakness from my diet (ie cakes, cookies etc...) I do eat low carb breads, bagels etc... and I really like them. I would love to correspond with, and even meet fellow NJ low carb dieters. Please write back!

Hi NJ Friends

Mokeyrissy...sounds like we have a lot in common. I'm from NJ and 36. I have three kids. Eating is a lifelong "issue" for me, as well as weight, and diet. I've never been extremely heavy, but with three pregnancies in the last 10 years, I'm always trying to get back to my normal weight. I think I'm actually at a good weight for myself, but I seem to have to exercise so much just to maintain it. Do you work? I work from my house. At this time my social life is limited....3 kids....work etc... I would love to make a friend on a similar weightloss/eating journey as I am on.... Please write back!

where from nj are you from? yes i know exactly what you mean about 3 pregnacies i also had 3 c-sections so i have this ugly pouch-like thing as a stomach. i was never really overweight myself - just after having kids, i just never went back to what i was. i guess i was content with it, then after my brother went on the atkins diet, he lost so much so quickly! he didn't really need to but he's good at watching his weight, he gained while his wife was preg. so they both lost together. thats the best thing to do, once you notice the gain. lose it before you keep adding on. i'm really feel good about the way i eat now, i was a big bread person, loved my pasta!!! but now i could take it or leave it, which i'm very proud of! never thought i could do that!
i'm a stay at home mom - i've temped here and there once in a while but its hard because my daughter is still young.
just came back from the shore - love it there!
now it's time for reality and unpack - talk to you soon

hi sneakers, i just got your private message, i'm still learning my way around this. sorry i haven't gotten back to you sooner i was waiting for your reply. how do you like it there! we were thinking of moving down there several times, but . . . dh doesn't want to move the kids to far. i will be there in a heartbeat. so right now, i might be able to talk to him about a 2nd home. we'll see!
right now my low carbing hasn't been to good, i lost about 1 lb. in the past 2 weeks, can't complain, it's better than gaining, but i haven't stuck on it too well, i think i'm better off trying to go on the next phase and give myself just a little bit more. i'm still watching what i eat and am very careful about what i'm eating better then i was before atkins. now i am very watchful of how much carbs are in something. feels strange to grab something off the shelf and look first at the nutrition label. but i do!!! dh feels great with his weight loss which makes me happy that he feels good about himself and he's been sticking with it much better then me. i don't work so i eat whats home, so sometimes it gets very routine, and you have to get out of it sometimes. even my kids are like - hey mom is that in your diet. because they see me eat something different! then that's my reality check! yes mommy's cheating okay! but i'm not eating the whole thing you can have half ! and we are all happy!

hope to talk to you soon, i haven't given up so thats the main thing! i will be much better!

i have a wedding to go to this weekend and the following, i will try to be on my best eating behavior!

Hi Monica

I haven't been logging on the last few days so I just saw your message. My kids are getting ready to go back to school...so we've been back to school shopping, haircuts etc...I have been following the low carb plan but in a more relaxed way. I do a lot of exercise, so I allow myself low carb breads, muffins etc...There are some great products out there! Right now I'm just maintaining my weight but I am content with my 10 pound loss! Where do you live now? I work from home. I paint personalized gifts for children. I have a website, and keep very busy! Tell me more about yourself. How long have you been married? Sandy

i've been very busy lately too, two weddings past 2 weeks!
they were wonderful, they were both family weddings and to see everyone again was wonderful. i got compliments on how much i lost, it feels good! i was wearing a beautiful sexy black dress, something i would never feel comfortable with putting on until now.
i stopped my excercise routing, i just have to find the time. my 2 boys also have started school. now it's just me and my dd, and tomorrow she goes to nursery school - that will give me some free time there!
good for you adding some extra carbs and excercising, i wish i could stick to the excercise. but i have been good sticking to the diet, at the wedding they had mac. and i did have just a few, because i love macaronni, but not the whole thing like i normally would have done in the past. just a taste! i diffently have a different way of looking at what i eat. not like before - i just ate what i liked! now i'm very careful of how much.
