what is your favorite hamburger bun/sandwich bread (lowcarb) recipie?
There are so many out there! I was wondering which one you like best and if you wouldn't mind giving me the recipe. Ideally, something that doesn't taste eggy and holds up to hamburgers or a lc sloppy joe etc would be great!

BettyR's amazing waffles make fantastic "bread" - the little nooks and crannies hold the condiments really well.
Betty R's Famous Waffles Attn: Charski Also the cheesy bread rounds from NancyElle's pizza crust recipe are sturdy and really good too. Cheesebread Rounds - takeoff on NancyElle's crispy pizza crust - with pics! Last edited by Charski; 02-06-2013 at 09:08 AM.. |

Thank you both. I'm on Jenny Craig right now but cannot afford it after this month of food is gone, so I'm going to try to go back to low carb.

I think you could use the part-skim/low fat cheeses in either of those recipes and still come out with a good product yet have lower calories too!

Yes she does. She is thrilled with her new life style. It's taken me 3 years to get her this far. LOL
Widgets buns are wonderful. But if you are on induction you aren't on the level to have almond flour. Last edited by rosethorns; 02-06-2013 at 03:55 PM.. |

If you need a bun in a hurry this recipe is great. It has been posted on the internet (and variations) for years. I usually toast the bun which makes it taste more like a hamburg bun. You can tweak it and add your own flavors (garlic powder, oregano, etc.)
Microwave Bread 1/3 cup flaxmeal 1/3 cup Carbquik pinch salt 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1 large egg 1 tablespoon oil 1 tablespoon half and half Mix all ingredients together to make a dough. I split this between 2 6 oz. custard cups and microwaved them for 1 1/2 mnutes. The original recipe used one large plastic container to microwave but it was too big for me and I don't like the idea of microwaving food in a cool whip container. |

I think it's wonderful that there are so many bread recipes, but I also know how overwhelming it is when you are searching for the right one for you.
This is the one I use now. It is based on a recipe by maru2 in a thread called Flax Flax Flax. I wanted a sandwich bread low in carbs and calories that used flaxmeal, but didn't have a flaxmeal taste. I made some adjustments to incorporate oat fiber and glucomannan, both of which seem to help baked goods. Anyway I really like it and hope you find one you love. Onion Garlic Buns 4 tablespoons golden flax 2 tablespoons oat fiber 4 tablespoons unflavored whey protein ¾ teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon glucomannan ¼ teaspoon onion powder ¼ teaspoon garlic powder ¾ teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon splenda 1 ½ tablespoon oil 2 tablespoons water 3 eggs ¾ cup shredded mozzarella cheese Preheat oven to 350. Spray muffin top pan lightly with cooking spray. In a small bowl mix together all dry ingredients. In another small bowl, mix wet ingredients, add cheese and mix again. Mix wet ingredients into dry. It should be thick, but thin enough to spread out, with only a little help, in the muffin top pan. Bake for 11 minutes. Makes 6 buns. |
