need info about whey protein
The local natural foods store sells 1lb bags of unflavored whey protein for a very reasonable price. However, most low carb recipes call for vanilla flavored protein.
Would adding sweetner and vanilla to a recipe allow for substituting the unflavored for the vanilla? Using the whey protein is totally new to me and any information will be appreciated. |

That's what I do! I use the unflavored in sweet or savory recipes. It's easier, less confusing, and takes up a lot less space! hope this was helpful. dianne

Yes I prefer the unflavored then you can flavor it with what you want.
Vanilla because that is all you could find for a long time. |

do bear in mind that the Whey Protein Isolate people get from Netrition and use a lot in recipes may not be the same thing as your local whey protein. check the carbs. some whey products are quite carby. when cheese is made, the sugar in the milk goes into the whey, which is why cheese is so low carb compared to milk.
if it's low enough carb for you to still consider it, then yeah, the unflavored part is good. in most recipes the amount of vanilla and sweetener in the whey is barely noticeable in the finished dish, but sometimes you have to add a little more sweetener and flavor to compensate.
