Mint Juleps
I know I am a bit ahead of time for Derby Day. And I tried to search on this site for alcoholic drinks but don't seem to find it. I know there is a thread on here somewhere for them. But am looking for a recipe for LC mint juleps. I have a huge bottle of sf peppermint syrup from Starbucks. Don't really like it but thought maybe it will come in handy for this drink when I am helping out with a Derby Day party and don't want to imbibe in a sugary drink. Stayed LC with the eggnog at Christmas, yeah!
Thank you for any help you can come up with!!!! |

I have a little cookbook written by Marlene and Chuck Koch that is about Low-Carb Cocktails. Her sweetener of choice is splenda. Here is her recipe for Mint Julep but it doesn't call for syrup but can give you a guideline.
Mint Julep Fresh mint leaves 2 tsps Splenda granular 2 tbs water 2 1/2 ozs bourbon Splash of club soda In a large rocks glass, using the back of a spoon, press and crush 5 to 8 mint leaves (to break apart and release oils) with Splenda and water. Fill glass with ice. Add bourbon and stir. Top with club soda and garnish with additional mint leaves. Net carbs 1 Calories 170 |
