Whipped Cream
I love it! But the store bought kinds have too much sugar for me and with the amount I like to consume, pop me out of ketosis. So, how do you all sub/make your own?

I have an isi cream whipper. Makes perfect whipped cream every time just like the canned whipped cream. There are various cream whippers available just google them
![]() My isi is a pint sized whipper. I put 2 or 3 tablespoons s/f vanilla syrup first, now fill the container with heavy whipping cream leaving about 1/4 empty space at the top, put on lid, attach on an N20 cartridge listen to the gas go in, Shake perfect whipped cream every time. Exactly like the canned whipped cream in the stores and stores in the fridge for every time you need a bit. I bought mine at a kitchen supply store in the mall (you can find them online too), get my N20 cartridges online and it is almost always in my refrigerator. Got tired of my favorite products disappearing from stores like the Land O Lake whipped cream, our Walmart stopped carrying it 3 years ago. The variations are only as limited as your imaginations and the s/f syrup you purchase

The whipper is cool! I would love one but I don't really need any other gadgets at the moment. For quick whipped cream I use my magic bullet, pour in heavy whipping cream with some type of sweetener and vanilla extract. It also tastes good whipped with some sugar-free flavored syrup.

I have been so tempted to buy a whipper, but I have reservations.
Is each cartridge a single use (a single batch)? I assume it is a single batch. How long does the whipped cream keep in your refrigerator? I don't use a lot of whipped cream, but when I want it, I want it. |

The whipped cream stays as long as the cream itself is not expired. I have had it in my fridge for at least a week or more. It probably lasts longer but we always use it up. I have never thrown out any that is bad. Often heavy whipping cream has long expiration dates. I don't think the nitrous will effect the cream's quality
Yes it is a single cartridge and I cannot state where I get them but I found a place online that I get my N20 Cartridges. A box of 24 from $8.95 to $9.00 which I usually order at lest 3 boxes that will last me a good while before I have to reorder. The isi brand chargers are more expensive than other brands and it doesn't matter which one you use as long as they are N20 made for whippers. Last edited by SkeeterN; 01-16-2013 at 06:18 AM.. |

I make mine in a Kitchen Aid mixer. Just add vanilla and sweetener to taste. I sometimes place the bowl and wire beater in the frig for 1/2 hour or so to speed things up (mostly in the summer - gets hot down here).
Anyway.. easy peasy. |

I have a WhipIt whipper, it's like the ISI, just a different brand.
Washing it is no different than washing a bowl/beaters if you whip cream by hand. Whipped cream stays good 2 weeks (or more) in it as long as the cream you used to make it was fresh. Mine holds a pint (2 cups) of cream. You can flavor it however you like - I normally just use vanilla DaVinci's SF syrup. Easy, and done! |

I use a 25 year old hand mixer in a little deep bowl. it takes about 3 minutes or less. plus, someone (husband! LOL) gets to lick the beaters.

Hi Ann!! I do it "to taste" and based on what I'm going to use it on - I pour the 2 cups of cream into a measuring cup, add a tablespoon or so of DV, taste, repeat til it's as sweet as I want for that recipe. Probably usually around 1/4 cup though.
Sometimes I'll use the NuNaturals NuStevia No Carbs powder and vanilla instead. Depends on my whim. But I do the same thing - mix in a measuring cup, taste, adjust as needed. Pour into WhipIt, add top/cartridge, charge, and be happy! ![]() |

If you whip it too long it turns to butter. which might have happened. I do not get that good of results with my magic bullet

Bought a iSi whipper at Tuesday Morning (it was the mini 1/2 pint) the other day but misread the instructions and blew out my charger before I put the cream in. Ugh. (what a gas, right. haha) Just waiting for my replacement chargers to come in. Can't wait!
