egg muffin carb question.
Hi I'm new but,I have a favor to ask.Can some one who is good at breaking down carbs in recipes help me out? I made egg muffins this morning and want to know what the carbs are.
6 eggs 4 slices Bacon 3/4 c shredded Mexican blend cheese 2 T half and half 1/2 t baking powder 2T chia seeds Baked into eight muffins. I thought it would of made 6 but I had pour 2 more. I was wonder what the carb count was thank you sorry if this sounds dumb. I just terrible at that kind of stuff. |

Here's a link to the USDA database where you can look the individual items up:
Foods List Also, use the product package info that you have as well, because brands can vary quite a bit. So if I say your cheese has 4g carbs for that 3/4 cup, your actual brand may have potato starch or something in it that makes it 6g. |

I think I got it. Each egg 1 carb,Tbls of chia seeds 6 carb, the cheese I used was 1 carb for 1/4 c
The Bacon had zero carb. Divided by 8. 2.6 carbs per muffin. Maybe next batch ill only add 1 T of chia seeds. I used heavy cream not half and half. Last edited by itsmejessica; 01-14-2013 at 10:59 AM.. |

I'm not sure if you're doing "net carbs", and unfortunately I don't have time to check...but the Chia is really high in fiber, which effectively cancels out the carbs. Check your chia package for the carb/fiber ratio.
