This bread is real good: Peggy's Individual White Bread
So is this one: Peggy's Individual Chia Sandwich Bread (MW) I make both of these often. I also add chia gel to meatloaf to moisten/loosen it up a bit, as I really don't like drier, packy, hard meatloaf. I'm also beginning to add 1-2 T. of the gel to other baked goods, as it seems to enhance texture. |

Actually they are the seeds used with the chai pet!!
I bought some tonight and this is what I did: put 2TBS of seeds into 6 oz of water and let it rest for 10 mins, the water gets a little like jelly I mixed 1c unsweetened almond milk chai seed mixture 1/2 scoop protein powder 1tsp cocoa powder (unsweet) several ice cubes Threw it in my ninja and made a smoothie. I could see adding it to my protein shake in the morning easy enough. You don't taste them at all and it just made the drink a little thicker. |

I make chia gel and add to my protein drinks...
I've been eating chia seeds for over three years and create a chia gel by adding three tablespoons of gel to my breakfast protein drink every morning.
I make the chia gel by adding two tablespoons of chia seeds to 14 oz of water (reverse osmosis water is the best because the chia seeds take in more water forming more gel). What it does is create a smoother protein drink (I blend it really well) as well as taking my attention off food for many hours. It also gives me more energy as long as I don't eat too much of this gel a day. I found that when I eat too much of the chia gel, I can get more tired. So, for me I eat enough to match my activity. It's actually an energy food among other things. If you are really active, you might be able to eat a lot. Last edited by Miss Piggy; 01-10-2013 at 02:38 PM.. |

Here's my version of Chia Pudding
Chocolate Orange Chia Pudding
1 Cup unsweetened Almond Milk 1 tsp Vanilla Extract 3 Tbsp Cream 2 Tbsp Dark Cocoa Powder 1 Tbsp Truvia (or erythritol) 3 Tbsp Chia seeds 30 Drops liquid Stevia 1 squirt (1/4 cup?) Sugar Free Chocolate Syrup ˝ tsp Orange Extract ˝ tsp instant coffee granules Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until thoroughly mixed. Pour into a small mixing bowl and refrigerate, stirring every fifteen minutes or so, for an hour. After an hour, no need to stir further. Keep covered in refrigerator until ready to serve. makes 2 generous servings This has a really rich, dark chocolaty-orangey taste. Really good IMHO. |
