The code worked for me but no free shipping for one pound. They want to charge over $17 to ship it so I did not order.

I put in an order for 7 one 1lb bags a couple of weeks ago and used a code (can't remember which one). I got a call last week from "Travis" who said they were out of the 1-lb bags and asked if I'd like to order a 5# bag instead. I ended up ordering two 5# bags, got free shipping, and they came to $57.58, which is around 5.76 a pound. Not quite as good as you got, Mistizoon at $5.40 a pound, but I'm okay with that. I know I'll enjoy using/experimenting with it, since I got a 1 lb free sample years ago and loved using it.
Travis was extremely nice and helpful--will be ordering from them again! Last edited by dianafoot; 01-05-2013 at 04:23 PM.. |

I just placed an order with NuNaturals and used that coupon code and it worked ok.
TBipp, I wasn't going to order either because I didn't see free shipping as a selection even though it said free shipping over $35. So I went back to main page and then back in to the order and it showed up as a choice. Got free shipping and $11.24 off my order - 5lbs for $33.71 total. I want to try this for ice cream. |

The discounted price seems to be in line with erythritol & xylitol. I love both but I am not happy with either as a sugar sub for pumpkin pie or cranberry sauce. May have to try this. Please keep us posted.

I'm so sorry to hear this, Diana. Neither I nor DH have had problems, but we are not sensitive to many ingredients others find objectionable. Did you eat a lot to cause this reaction? Or will the tiniest amount cause distress?

I see that it's been used on a Norwegian LC forum! It's called Tagaetsse here.
Some say they feel nothing. Some feel weird (not in the stomach, just a blood rush sort of) Some get a tummy-ache after consuming just tiny amounts. If they mix tagatose and maltitol they get issues. Big time! Fun |

tagatess is only 39% tagatose. It is also 39% isomalt (tummy troubler there), and a little inulin/oligofructosaccharide mixed in as well. All of these are known to cause issues for some people. |

Ah, yes, Diana. That psyllium will clean you out! I'd be interested to hear if you think you have any other adverse effects from the tagalose. Alonewithyou, that Tagaetsse is a mixtures of sweeteners including isomalt. So I don't know which bad reactions are due to the isomalt and which are due to the tagalose.

My 5 lbs. of tagatose just arrived and the label does have a "laxative effect" warning on it! I don't recall seeing that on the website. I guess I'll try some this weekend while I'm home just in case!

I finally got to order it! I went for 2 lbs. It's not like it's free, so... Hope there will be a few recipes in this thread that I can try.

I made the Pecan turtle cookies from Carolyn's website, All Day I Dream About Food. The caramel really made the cookies delicious. I did not get a crispy cookie, as I hoped. I used half erythritol and 1/2 tagatose and baked them at 325 instead of 350. Next time I will bake them longer. These are definitely company worthy, so I will be interested to hear if the tagatose bothers anyone else on the board. So far no problems for DH or me. But I never like to serve questionable ingredients to guests.

Got mine yesterday, will be mixing with other sweeteners until I see if it bothers me. I dipped my finger in it and it did taste good.

I got mine yesterday and made a cup of hot chocolate with the Tagalose last night. I used 2 teaspoons along with 2 teaspoons of erythritol. I didn't have any reaction last night or this morning so I guess I can tolerate it ok. I can't eat maltitol, polydextrose and most of the other sugar subs that cause intestinal issues so I'm kind of surprised.

I used Tagatose and made the coffee cake that Ginaa posted on the coffee cake thread. It was really good and very rich tasting, like a carmel pound cake. The cake was golden brown and had a nice cake texture. Both my husband and I felt I could have used a little less Tagatose for that particular recipe. Hands down, this is the best low carb sweetner I have used. I just ordered a 5 lb. bag using the discount code FB1F, so I am happy to get this at a discounted price.
