Low carbing among friends cookbooks
Don't stone for me asking this, PLEASE..... but
Are these books worth their price tag? What I mean is for that same price I bought 3 other low carb cookbooks. It just seems sort of high. How many recipes are actually in the books? |

377 (with variations) or so per cookbook (BIG books) and, yes, I am very biased
Edited to say low-carb cookbooks are a wonderful resource (not just our books) to help us stay the course and make life more enjoyable and healthier - in the long run, they can save us a lot of doctor visits. I personally love having a collection of low-carb cookbooks. I have no excuse but to cook healthy.

I love cookbooks, and am very happy with my purchase. Just finished camping for five days and tremendously enjoyed perusing them again. I have other low carb cookbooks, but have been disappointed with the caliber of recipes in some of them.
I have organized a local, low carb support group, and our first meeting is tonight. These cookbooks are going along for show and tell. I feel the major reason low carb fails is because people have insufficient meal ideas. These cookbooks will get them over that hurdle! There may be 12 orders for cookbooks to Missouri coming in tomorrow morning. |

I have confessed before to being a cookbook-aholic and I have hundreds of cookbooks and many, many of them are low-carb but I can attest that these are two of my favorites and are worth every penny.
I have bought a lot of others that are pretty disappointing as is but with a little tweaking here and there can be made acceptable but very little if any tweaking is needed with the LCAMF cookbooks and even if I do tweak them it is because I like sweeter, hotter and saltier than most people plus I love using glucomannan ![]() |

Wow, thanks so much for the wonderful support and very kind words. It makes me very, very happy to know our hard work is appreciated. Thank you, Tofulover, TBipp and Pam. Pam, you made me laugh! You know why too.
![]() TBipp - thank you so much and what an amazing group you have started. That should be fun! You will be able to help a lot of people. Good for you and thanks for taking our books along. Wow! Very, very cool. |

I have been getting so bored with my recipes- I just bought both volumes of this cookbook! I figure it is a small price to pay to keep me on track.

I love my books, since they arrived they have only been next to my TV viewing chair where I peruse them often or on the kitchen counter being used to prepare a recipe. LOL , I may need to get a special set of bookends to keep all the books in the series in one convenient place -- handy!! I have so many cookbooks and notebooks of recipes I have copied or made up that I often want to make something but can't remember which book it's in and I know that the recipes in these books will be very good so I want them all in one place; there is always an idea to use when I get stuck for something different to try.

I think it should last at least a week or more. I don't bother cooking it. I just blend all the ingredients in the blender - lazy me! I do coddle the egg in boiling water for 50 seconds before using it.

Ok admitting it. Another skeptical. I followed the threads a long time. The threads recommending the recipes out of the first book and than the second book. Seemed like a lot of sweet recipes instead of main meals. Can you tell me if there is more meat and vegetables recipes than desserts and breads using special ingredients?

Cool, Misty. Yep, mostly regular cooking recipes - they far outnumber the desserts and baking recipes.
The categories are Appetizers and Beverages; Salads and Soups; Breakfasts; Main Courses and Sides; Miscellaneous; Breads, Muffins and More; Sweet Endings. In fact Maria Emmerich who is a real star with desserts and baking in the second book only had a handful of desserts to give you some idea. In volume 3, Kyndra Holley is opting not do any desserts at all. So, yep, even although we get excited about our sweets on this board and in the threads, there are actually more regular recipes than desserts. Hope that helps and good to know you have my old collection of books. I still cook out of them, but now I sub my gluten-free bake mix in the dessert recipes. |

Hey, I love that meat loaf as well (Ginny does too) and I did actually include it in volume 1 - just because it is a fave.

Ohiocat, thanks for your interest. On my blog you will find links (the link is in my siggie). Directly you can order the coil bound books which most of us find very useful in the kitchen. Also available on Amazon but perfect bound.

The books will probably start shipping the end of this next week, so you should only worry January 30th if you still don't have your book.

I, too, love these cookbooks. Yesterday I almost had a hear attack because I couldn't find my volume 2. Finally found it, and made the Cinnamon Coffee Cake.
