Do you HAVE to use a food processor? Does it turn the almond flour into almond butter?

I think you can use a mixer, Dr...There is a point where the processor goes longer so the
batter gets mixed up very well..I'm sure a good sturdy mixer would do that or if you are quite muscular, then you could do it by hand. |

Oh lord, this looks amazing! One of my favorite things in the world in dark bread with butter and thinly sliced radishes. I'm not eating baked goods this month, but I am so going to try this in October! Thanks!

Barbo - I just made your recipe this afternoon and it is wonderful, thank you for posting this. I didn't make mine as a loaf however, I did mine as buns. Scooped the batter into my muffin top pans and baked for 20 minutes. I got 10 rolls plus a little tiny one to finish off the batter and I ate that warm right out of oven with butter on it - yum!

YUM, Tweak - glad you tried that - I had thought of doing that and now I know how well it works!
I'm gonna play with that recipe when I get a chance and see if I can make a higher loaf and also a marble rye loaf! |

I just had the most yummy burger on one of the rolls for dinner. I melted both pepperjack and provolone cheese on the burger. I put lettuce, a nice slab of raw onion and spicy brown mustard on the bun, topped with the burger and then put some sriracha hot chili sauce, a little more mustard and some dill relish on it then the top of the bun. My oh my, talk about a great burger! Barbo, thank you, thank you for this recipe, I love it! I wish I had taken a picture, but alas, I only have my memory!
Do we have a carb count for this? I have read all the posts but I don't remember if carbs have been figured.

Tweaker, those hamburger rolls look wonderful.
I'm going to make these as soon as we run out of the bread. Thanks to all who have tried and loved this bread. So glad for the great ideas to make more out of this recipe. |

OMG! I just made this and it's fantastic! I only made 1/3 of the recipe as I was running low on almond meal, and I wanted to test my small "tweak". Didn't have any molasses so subbed a capful of DaVinci caramel syrup.
Turned out great! I baked it in a small square corning ware dish (bread slice size) and when it cooled I sliced it into 4 thin slices. My version came out to 1.6 net carbs per slice. It's a little moist, I may cut back on the water next batch. Thinking of subbing some flax for some of the almond meal next time, to cut down even further on the NC. But just wanted to thank Barbo for this great recipe! |

Barbo,
I am really excited about trying your recipe. I have it in the oven right now and BOY, does it smell yummy. I am using the muffin top pans. It made 9 for me and that 9th one is a bit skimpy. I used half peanut oil and half bacon grease. Also added some sesame seeds to the batter and sprinkled more on top. Drool is almost running down my chin awaiting the great reveal. Connie |

OOOPALUMBA>>COLUMBA!!!!!!
These are fantastic! I have tried so many times to make something low carb..bread or even bready. I do like the deep dish pizza crust used for sandwiches but this is over the top. I made Kevin's breads and they looked beautiful but were not for my taste buds. I split a muffin top, buttered it and piled on some smoked turkey. Very very good As an extra I added a cup of extra almond meal to the food processor and swirled it around with the caraway seeds, sesame seeds and salt. Dipped the extra out and used it to make a batch of almond thins. ...Rye sesame almond thins...rolls right into the mouth and yum yum. Barbo, I have been trying to get away from wheat but it is so easy for me to pick up a loaf of Trader Joe's low carb bread. I like the high fiber crunchieish bread, especially toasted. I have never been a fan of soft white bread and your bread really suits my taste buds. I cannot possibly send enough thanks your way. Connie |

I want to add another plus to this recipe -- I've been eating one of the buns per day since I made them and I've been losing close to a pound a day!!, not sure if it's relevant or not, but I'm going to keep eating them~!

I plan on making this bread later in the week after a Trader Joe's run. Is it the TJ's almond meal that is being used? It's a bit coarse, wonder if that will make a difference in the texture. It sounds so good.
Thanks, Dee |

Dee, I used the Trader Joe almond meal..Made my first batch a few day ago and more today. They truly are wonderful. Made them in the muffin top pans. These are thin but big enough to slice in half and make a sandwich or be used for a hamburger bun. I put sesame seeds in the batter and also sprinkled them on top. DH loves them with the sesame seeds. I hope you try these. I am so grateful for Barbo's recipe. In the 70's I taught all my neighbors how bake their own bread and did not buy any commercial bread for about a 5 year time period. I am a great cook (fracturing my arm pattting myself on the back)
BUT< not in a million years would I ever have thought of adding vinegar and baking soda to a bread recipe. Very glad that Barbo DID. I like these so much that I poured about a cup from my galllon jug of white vinegar into a jar and put a lid on the jar and tucked it away on my counter top. I know I am going to be making these at least twice a week and did not want to have to go into the pantry each time and drag out that heavy gallon jug. Connie |

Yep, TJ's almond meal here too, made a special trip to get it because all I normally have in the house is the blanched from Honeyville!
