WOW :Duncan Hines FROSTINGS CREATIONS - OH yes they DID! :o)

OH my GOODness - Have you people seen this product?

!!!!!!

Now ...do not buy the unflavored frosting....it is of course filled with regular sugar-filled-frosting. Delicious, devil-evil frosting. DO NOT buy the frosting.
NOW-
The flavoring packets : yes indeed, we have a winner!
No sugar. Low carb. cuz its simply flavoring.....

The Chocolate Mint is to die for,
in FACT , ihave used it already to make " Mint n Chip Brownies

(low carb of course, just mix it into my regular recipe, all low carb ingredients, using cocoa powder, coconut foour flaxmean, splenda, eggs, baking powder, butter - you can use your own low carb brownie recipe or one of Linda Sue's)

also KINDA fun....

Make a coconut flour, cream cheese cake,
topped it with a butter/cream cheese icing with the COTTON CANDY flavor mixed in -
hello?????? Yummmm, itty, Yum YUM!!!

Next up on my agenda you might ask?
Thank you for asking....

Dulce De Leche Cake/ ( mini cakes) using thier CARAMEL flavoring....Should be simple, will use one variation or another of the simple microwave coffee mug cake for one, with flaxmeal, coconut flour, egg, slenda, caramel flavoring, butter.....might make SEVERAL of these...and then make an icing for it, using
butter, CARAMEL FLAVORing, a smidge of heavy cream, and cream cheese.

And if that experiment goes well......

Chocolate Marshmellow Smores Cupcakes -
Using the CHocolate MArshmellow Flavoring.
( similar recipe as above recipes, only adding cocoa powder, and maybe a little bit of waldens farms marshmellow fluff to the middle of the cupcakes when they are done, and add crumbled up sugar free almod meal cookies, crumbled up on top for texture, on top of the icing, to make more SMORE-like )

Lots of possibilities here ...so excited about this!!
The carb count is low really....
2 carbs for the whole packet. But you dont need to use the whole packet.
My Brownie recipe was super-fantastic, only using 1/2 the packet.....so only 1 carb there... and the rest of the recipe super low too.....maybe 3-4 carbs for whole recipe?

Anyway..wanted to share.....you guys GOTTA try this out...you will THANK ME!

wanted to add here, YOU DO NOT have to buy the plain frosting...
you will see it sitting there, right next to the flavoring packets, saying to you
" buy me, buy me, buy me, you know you want me "

Do not listen to the frosting.
The frosting is a liar.
The FROSTING want you to buy it, eat it and cry.
The FROSTING is sold separately, and it knows that...its an evil thing. just ignore the frosting, and it will shut up.

Listen to the flavor packets...
the flavor packets say....
"give me a chance......I'm really worth your while......I dont even have sugar in me,....
if you try me, you'lll like me!"

just sayin....

Don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but on the Duncan Hines site, the ingredients listing for the flavor packets, every one I pulled up, have DEXTROSE and SOY LECITHIN. The former is a form of sugar and to be avoided; the latter I try to not eat as much as possible because of soy health issues. That dextrose might derail your weight loss over time.

I HATED those flavour packets. I added them to cream cheese--I was so hopeful. Maybe its a YMMV thang.

maybe........hmmm? hate to hear you hated it? Maybe cause you mixed it with only cream cheese?

See, I found it tasted superb, when mixed directly into the cupcake "batter".....
the flavoring packet didnt have to compete so much with the flavor of the cream cheese that way....

and also, when I make my own low carb frosting base, its alomt always a combo of
1/3 butter
1/3 cream cheese
1/3 almond or coconut milk

creates a good texture, and a blank page to add flavorings to, you know what I mean?

But who knows? maybe these duncan hines things arent for you?
You may prefer kool-aid? I have made super yummo cookie recipes in the past
using kool-aid packets for flavor......lemonaide one of the best ones to add to a cream cheese cookie, as the flavors tend to go together well.

Good point, its always wise to check on that sort of thing

Please know I read the info on the package veryyyyyyyyyyyyyy carefully before deciding to make the purchase. I held it in my hand, and read every square inch of that little sucker, just to be sure it wasnt rat poison or something akin to that!

But in small amounts : 1/2 a pack per RECIPE, each serving would have minscule trace amounts only of the soy lechithin stuff you mentioned.
the calories for the packet are 10
the carbs are 2
there simply CANT be much of anything in there are all.....
except
AWESOME Flaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaavvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvoooooor 1

I felt it was worth the 'splurge; certainly fun for a treat,
and now I dont have to 'miss' totally low carb taboo items like
cotton candy.....
.....caramel
....chocolate marshmellow
quite as much as before this dsicovery. I think its a god-send, personally!
LOVE this stufff!!!
and if yo

They are .97 cents. I almost bought the cherry vanilla but wasn't sure exactly what to put it in. I might get it later.

Sure! here it is:

Mint n Chip LowCarb Sugar Free Brownies:4 TB Flaxmeal ( you may use golden or regular - whatever you prefer ) carbs=04 TB Cocoa Powder
( make sure you use a brand that is low carb, hersheys is) carbs= 4
2 TB Coconut Flour carbs = 3
2 TB melted butter
( you may omit the butter, if you wish, if u r watching cals, 2 ) carbs= 0
2 eggs carbs=01 tsp Baking Powder
1 1/2 cups Splenda ( or equivalent of your Choice of Sugar Free Sweetener)
3-4 TB Waldens Farms Chocolate Dip carbs=0
1/2 Packet of Duncan Hines Mint Chocolate Frosting Creations carbs = 1

Mix all above ingredients together. Spray a square brownie pan with Pam. Spread mixture into pan. Bake in oven at 375 for about 15-20 min. CHeck it with toothpick it you're picky like me, at about the 12 min mark to see how its doing....you dont want to over cook it. When done, remove from oven and allow to cool.
then frost with the following, if desired ( and I DO recommend it )

Frosting:

3-4 TB Walden Farms Marshmellow Fluff carbs=0
2-3 TB softened Cream Cheese
(reg or light, dont matter 2 me, use what u prefer) carbs=4
1-2 TB softened butter carbs=0
1/2 cup Splenda (or equivalent of your choice of Sugar Free Sweetener)
1/2 packet of Duncan Hines Mint Chocolate Chip Frosting Creations carbs=1

**** Optional but wonderful****** - sugar free chocolate bar bits or sugar free chocolate chips) carbs= ??? depends what kind of bar u use...

After frosted, keep in fridge. DELICIOUS!!!! Yeilds about 16 brownies.
Nutirional info for entire recipe:

approx 14-15 carbs for entire recipe, about 1 carb per brownie
approx 970 calories for entire recipe,( if using all the butter and full fat cream cheese,)
with a total of approx 65 calories per brownie
or
only 470 calories for entire recipe,( if you omit the butter completely, and use fat free cream cheese instead of full fat cream cheese)

with a total of approx 31 calories per brownie

Have fun, kids!

Are the chocolate chips added to the brownie batter or to the frosting?

I add the sugar free chocolate chips to the frosting.....makes it pretty, kind of looks like you have iced the brownies with Mint n Chip Ice Cream

Hi Steph, glad you asked....those were some good fun cookies, let me tell ya!

Cant remember my EXACT recipe- Hmm, I posted it here in the recipe helps years ago.

But its essentially just your average low carb cookie recipe, usually a combination of such ingredients likeL
using your fav sweetener, flaxmeal, coconut flour or almond flour, Protein Powder baking powder, eggs, butter, and using Kool-Aid as the flavoring.

You can make really yummy cream-cheese/flaxmeal Lemon Cookie Bars, using the lemonade kind.
OR one of my favs was adding cherry to cream cheese cookies.
Tasted like a little cherry cheesecake cookie

Another fun recipe was just to add GRAPE kool-aid to lowcarb PeanutButter Cookies.
Those tasted much like a sweet little treat, reminiscent of a Peanutbutter and Jelly Sandwich but better and WAY way WAY low carb.

At some stores you can buy Kool-aid that is Pineapple Flavored
I think that would be fun to try with some combination of coconut flour, coconut milk/coconut butter, along with your cookie recipe......make some
"Pina Colada" cookies.......you know what I mean?

There are many ways to be creative with Kool-aid, its nothing but flavoring, and so cheap to buy, might as well experiment with it and have fun!
