making flax milk

I tried making flax milk and I don't think I like it. I haven't tasted the commercial made ones so I don't have anything to compare it to. I have two recipes. One uses 1 cup flaxseed with 3 cups water. And the one I made uses 1/4 cup flaxseed to 6 cups of water. Big differences there with the ingredients. So maybe I should try making the one that uses more flaxseed before I totally give up on it.

Anyone try the commercial one yet. If so do you like it?

I'm sorry, I haven't. I thought someone would have responded by now. I haven't seen it in the stores, but I have seen oat milk, so it seems like it should work.

When I make almond milk or other nut milks, I add in some sweetner and vanilla. Sometimes people strain nut milks also, but I never did.

I hope someone else has made this and sees this thread.

I haven't tried it either, but the recipe I googled used 1 tsp of maple syrup. I think Nigel is on to something. Try putting in a little salt and sweetener. I also saw a recipe for strawberry flax milk, where they put in 1/2 cup pureed strawberries. Another site said they only liked the flax milk for cooking, so at least you could use it that way.

Well that kind of makes sense just using it for cooking then since the taste didn't seem that great to me. I may try making it again.

Yummy Flax Milk

My family exclusively uses Flaxmilk USA. It is AWESOME! I've tried several flax milk recipes and so far they fall very short of the store bought versions. I would give them a try before you throw the idea out. :-)

That is interesting the store bought tastes better. I wonder what I can do make it better at home.

Amy what recipes have you tried so far?

If you look at the nutrition facts for the flaxmilk usa it may explain why it tastes so good. They use flax milk (filtered water, cold pressed flax oil) evaporated cane juice, vanilla, sea salt, xanthan and guar gum, carageenan and natural flavors. A few other ingredients that I can't spell or pronounce.

For making at home you could try adding some vanilla and sweetener. That's what I put in my almond and macadamia nut milk.

When I made it I don't think I put any sweetner in. When I try it again I will do that. I put dates in my almond milk.
