Roasted Edamame Beans

Have y'all tried these? 10 carbs per serving, 8 g of fiber, and 14 g of protein!

They are filling, salty, crunchy and delicious.

I have been wanting to try them, everytime I go shopping I look at them but always pass them up. Maybe I will buy some on my next shopping trip.

I don't think you can eat the "pod", at least I never have. They have edamame at some of my fav japanese/sushi restaurants. You just bite down and pull the beans out, leaving the "pod". They are usually salted and roasted -- very yummy!

I know that they sell these in the grocer freezer section -- maybe this is what you have?

Those are also delicious, but not what I am talking about. Microwave those in some salt water, drain the water, then pull the beans out of the shell with your fingers and/or teeth. The hulls are not edible.

I got some edamame that are shelled, dry roasted, like nuts, til they are dry and crispy. Also delish!

Is edamame the same thing as soy beans?

Yes they are green soy beans.

Trader Joe's sells them frozen and shelled.
Microwave, butter, salt and pepper. Tastes great.

I use them sometimes instead of peas. Usually, I will put them in a crockpot in a stew. I've always bought the frozen edamame. I suppose the cooking would be the same.
