McDonalds-style Chicken Nuggets.
I'm having a most insane craving for McDonald's chicken nuggets. My non-LCing boyfriend just got a large fry, a thing of nuggets, and a burger. *******. I had two nuggets, which are apparently 5 carbs, and now I want to punch my monitor.
So please. For my mental sanity. Share with me your ideas for McDonald's style nuggets. Parmesan? Eggs? Ground chicken? Deep frying? ![]() |

I bet mentally you were
.Do you like pork rinds? I crush them up and use them for my breading. 1 egg beaten 1 bag pork rinds crush very fine ( I use a rolling pin) 1/2 tsp of your favorite seasoning 2 bowls 2 plates 2 chicken breast Cut up chicken breast into chunks put on plate. Mix egg in bowl set aside. Put your bag of crushed pork rinds in a bowl set next to egg bowl. Now take chicken chuncks dip into egg bowl then into pork rind bowl then set on plate until you are done. This is very easy.Bake at 350 for about 20 minutes. I've never deep fried but I guess you can. ![]() chicken nuggets![]() ![]() I use this for fish also. I hope this helps.

Next time you digress take a small bite and just move it around your mouth for awhile, slowly chew it it and think of the textures you feel. Then really think of the flavor. Chew each small bite the same way - you probably will not finsh a whole one!
I did this with frech fries once and it worked for me. It makes food that our brains think of as good really nasty. the texture of mcds nuggets are spongy and oily. If you really describe the flavor it is oily and bitter. those types of foods need to be eaten fast while hot to even be considered good. |

I have something I use thats similar. I call them Buffalo Bites.
Take 2 chicken breasts and cut it into large chunks. Take 3 eggs wisk with a bit of hot sauce. Mix 1/2 cup parm cheese, 1/2 cup almond flour and 1/2 cup crushed pork rinds (I use a food processor), some garlic powder and sea salt or kosher salt and a bit of cracked pepper. Dry the chicken off as best you can then coat with egg wash. Add the chicken to the container with the coating mix and shake it up bit. Fry the chicken in 375 degree oil for 3-4 mins. Serve with blue cheese and a hot sauce/buffalo sauce mix. |

Mayonnaise works fine if you can eat it!
Or can you eat eggwhite? (Seems most folks who are allergic can't eat the yolk) I usually use just the whites for these things, it's "stickier" for the breading and not as eggy-tasting in the final result. |

I have seen many chefs use a buttermilk wash before the coating for their fried foods. No eggs at all.

Rosehip use water or cream. You just want it wet it to hold the pork rinds. It'll work.
If you do some shrimp do the same thing ( water or cream) and coat with coconut. Yum. I've many allergies also so I feel your pain. I've had to work out many recipes with my allergies. |

Also, I really like mayo as a coating under breading, I wonder if the non-egg mayo would work? The mayo for vegans...can't think of the brand(s) right now. |

Anyone ever try to 'Schnitzel' with pork rinds? You know, roll in pork rind crumbs first THEN dip in the egg. |

Ha, funny, I've been craving chicken mcnuggets too, and have been wondering how to accomplish such a task. I'm thinking ground chicken with maybe chicken bullion, pepper, dash of onion powder and garlic and possibly some msg, then form into small patties. Then I'm going to freeze until firm, batter with egg and then dip in pork rinds crumbs and fry them up. We shall see!

I think I can honestly say I've never had a chicken nugget, Mcdonalds or otherwise, in my entire life. Not a craving I've ever experienced.

The breading issue seems to have been solved, here. But in order to get the chicken the right consistency you need to make a pate or sausage-like substance out of the chicken. Put the boneless, skinless chicken in a food processor and let 'er rip. Add an egg and seasoning to taste until it's whipped smooth. Take your chicken pate and shape into nuggets. Then coat them and bake (or fry) them.

Exactly what Speck333 said.
I found out because I wanted ground chicken and I didn't trust the super market ground stuff. It is good and it is more moist this way. Just cut it up and throw it into the food processor. |

Sounds interesting. After the chicken is processed with the egg is it firm enough to make into nuggets and to fry them? What would the chicken to egg ratio be?

I've made patties and meatballs like that and it works. I'd say one egg to one pound of chicken.

Do a google search for Chuck Hughes 'Chicken Nugget' recipe. He is on the Cooking Channel. I made these for my GKs - they were good. He uses the ground chicken method. You will need to substitute the panko breading with a LC one.

Wow ground chicken Speck. I've never eaten them but I thought it was chicken breast not ground pate. Wow learn something everyday.
You can make chicken fingers with this breading too. |

it's more like "whipped" chicken
"Pate" isn't even the right word for it. I'm not sure what you would call it. Chicken strips or chicken tenders are actually pieces of breast meat, but the thing we call "nuggets" are basically a chicken sausage formed into nugget (or dinosaur or whatever) shaped pieces. |

From what I have read about Mcdonald's chicken nuggets after they get done processing the chicken it can hardly even be called chicken anymore. I will never eat another chicken nugget from there again. Yuck!!
I think however you choose to make them at home, they will be 100% better. |
