Ranch Dressing
Hubby -- who's joining me, starting tomorrow -- is a big Ranch fan. His favorite brand is LOADED with carbs, so... He went looking how to make it.
According to the recipe he found, it takes literally SECONDS to make, and the ingredient list? Mayo, sour cream, garlic, dill. That's it. (Could substitute buttermilk for sour cream, but we're doing LC so WHY?) I think, like Alfredo sauce, we're going to end up wondering why we ever bought this! ![]() |

I know what you mean! I've been making our own for months now, and I actually prefer it. Our family favorite was the Hidden Valley Ranch you make from the packets. Here is my recipe Just like Hidden Valley Ranch from scratch!

I love making dressing now! Ranch is so easy and I really have fun adding different things. Homemade ranch is so much healthier than most of what you can buy at the store and it taste so much fresher! I love to add bacon, cream cheese, blu cheese, parmesan cheese, chives and much more! Have fun and enjoy! |

OK, I haven't found my husband's recipe yet, but here's one I pulled off the web:
1 cup mayonnaise 1/2 cup sour cream 1/2 teaspoon dried chives 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley 1/2 teaspoon dried dill weed 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder 1/4 teaspoon onion powder 1/8 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper Directions In a large bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, chives, parsley, dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes before serving. I know, from my experience making salad dressing for restaurants many years ago, that the chill-time CAN be important to flavor. Like, it'll taste good when you make it, but you wait 1/2 hour to let the flavors finish doing their thing, and it goes from good to food-gasm-good. I notice, from this recipe and from Speck's, that the one hubby found seems a little odd. Will have to try both combos and see which we like better! |

I make mine with 1 cup sour cream. 1 cup buttermilk and a ranch packet. I suppose you could lower the carbs if you tried out the mix speck posted.

We made it last night... He whipped it up, I taste-tested. Then we left it in the fridge while the salmon grilled.
Was GREAT over salad! |

If I'm going to bother to mix up my own dressing (which I plan to start doing again), I'll mix up a recipe, and not the packet!! (I've been lazy recently, and buying bottled, but they seem to be adding more & more sugar & etc lately.) I need to mix up a batch of mix to use! |
