soup like at shogun
I know its an onion type soup and its really yummy. But thats all I know I think it could be a miso soup. Does anyone have a recipe that is tried and true or know of a ready to make one that taste good?

This was posted in answer to a similar question elsewhere - since I have NO idea what the soup is like, this may or may not be what you're looking for!
JAPANESE SOUP 3 1/2 c. water 1/2 cube beef bouillon 3 tbsp. finely chopped onions Mushrooms to suit taste (optional) Salt to taste Boil water with chopped onions until onions are tender. Add bouillon cube, mushrooms and salt. Simmer. Serve hot. |

I just realized that I've had that soup if you're talking about the same Shogun restaurant. The recipe Charski posted looks like it would taste very similar to how I remember it. It tasted like beef bouillon with dehydrated onions in it and sliced fresh mushrooms were floating in it. There really wasn't much to it. The 1/2 bouillon cube doesn't seem like enough for that much water though. I'd use at least one whole cube or used canned beef broth instead.
I looked up the Shogun menu online and they have a Shogun Onion Soup and also one called Miso Soup which looks like it has more stuff floating in it than the onion soup. |

Whatever it was it was tasty and would be a low carb snack to sip on. I'll try the recipe out this weekend.
