I will ask Barbo for you, Linda.
Pat, I grind my almonds from scratch in a coffee grinder as I use too much to be able to afford to ship it in from the States. One can now buy a grinder that is specifically for grinding spices and nuts. Can you believe that? I wish I had bought one of those rather. I saw it on the internet. It might be handy thing to have for times that you run out of almond flour. Funny that you don't have a health food store near you that provides almond flour. I used to have two in Vernon, B.C. when I lived there. It was awesome!! Thanks, Billie. Shh, I also don't like nuts in quick breads that much, but I thought raisins or cranberries might be too high in carbs, but Vanessa's lovely dried cranberries might be nice or a 1/4 cup raisins snipped in half. I like milk chocolate and don't like dark much (gives me migraines). My eldest son does not like chocolate. It can't be normal? He is not a dessert person but will eat anything with apple in it. People either tend towards salty or sweet foods, I've noticed. Some like both but I think I lean towards sweet. You think? My youngest son likes both and DH likes both. You are so right...everyone has different tastes, so I am very thankful that mostly we get good "grades" for our recipes, the authors and I. Merry Christmas!! Yay, Tilly and Carolyn. I hope you find time to make the bread. I think I will make some banana loaves this Christmas with dried cranberries. Yum. |

We are on the same wavelength then, Brenda. I'm going to make some (maybe I'll make muffins as well) and freeze 'em for Christmas time.

Tsk, Tsk, Tilly.
I sure hope you like it after it has baked. I made banana muffins today. Added some chocolate chips. I'll freeze them and keep a few out for my sons and one for my breakfast in the morning. |

Well whoever said on her that the banana bread of Jennifer's tastes like HC is exactly right. I think I had at least 2 1/2 pieces! YUM, Jennifer!

I made Jenn's Cinnamon muffins yesterday and they are excellent! I made the pecan version. Very, very good-in no way do they taste low carb!
I also made Caroline's Turtle bars and I messed up the caramel, but if I can get that straightened out, I think they will be very good as well! Thanks for such a great book. Leigh |

I'm so glad you guys liked it, Julie. That's fast becoming a Holiday regular for us. My brother, once an executive chef, just LOVES that dish! I'm thinking about doing it again this year, as my MIL's new false teeth aren't in yet and she needs the food to be very soft this year.

Tried Kent's Taco Bake last night. It was very good. My older daughter wanted it in a taco shell, so I cut it up and put both daughers portion in a heated taco shell. So easy to make, which was important to me as I was trying to wrap packages at the same time!
Has anyone tried his Fried Chicken? I just bought myself a Fry-Daddy and some peanut oil. It says on the box that you can store the used oil in the pot it comes with. Is that true? Does anyone else fry chicken, if so, how? I have always been hesitant to fry chicken (well, for the obvious reason, is that I did not touch oil) because of what to do with the leftover oil. And then when do you toss the old oil? And where do you dispose of it? Does the coating stick to the chicken? How do you know when it is done? I am going to use chicken breasts. ![]() |

I can answer the question about disposing of oil. I use coffee cans for disposing of old oil. I let the oil cool, pour into the can, snap on the lid and discard. For reusing oil, I let it cool, strain it back into the original bottle and refrigerate it. Hope that helps for some of your questions. |
