I would love to buy all 3 books but do not have the funds right now. If you had to choose your favorite one-----which one would it be???? I will buy one now and the other 2 at another time. I really want all of them.

I got Vol 3 yesterday and have been drooling over some of the recipes. The Snickerdoodle Blondies (pg 243) may be my first try but the frosting recipes on page 131 have me intrigued.
I'm planning on making the Slow Cooker Beef Stew (pg 171) this weekend only subbing venison for the beef to use up some I have in the freezer. Oh my, just found the Peanut Butter Caramel Shortbread Bars (pg. 241) Last edited by PaminKY; 02-05-2013 at 01:50 PM.. |

That's great, Pam! Interesting to read your comment.
I don't know, Chewiegand...maybe start with the first book and work your way up. It is still the most popular of all the LCAF's cookbooks. |

Jennifer Eloff you made my day today!! Vol 3 arrived two wks ago but I've been sick with some kind of virus that has had me coughing for the last 2 wks. Finally I think I'm on the mend & have been craving Chocolate!! Soooo, I decided today I was going to make something chocolate out of Vol 3.. First I made the peanut butter cups on p154, then right across the pg 155 The Decadent cocoa brownies with the Condensed milk Chocolate Frosting ob p 131 What terrific recipes!! I so enjoyed them & recommend them to everyone!

OMG, I've been on this site for years... and somehow never heard of these cookbooks! These look fantastic. I had never seen the authors blogs either! I feel like Ive been living in lala land or something.. geez.
For someone like me who is more interested in savory foods, rather than desserts (I just dont have a big sweet tooth), would any one of the cookbooks be better? Last edited by Strawberry; 02-08-2013 at 09:24 PM.. |

Yesterday I made Baked Eggs with Salami, Smoked Gouda and Artichokes (Vol 1 page 167) for my husband to bring to work this week. He was bored with omlettes and egg casseroles and wanted something different for breakfast. I read him some of the recipes and he picked this one. It was very simple to make and we had smoked gouda in the house already. The artichokes we had were marinated rather than canned, but I used them anyway. I used pyrex custard cups which are the perfect size and have plastic lids. He came home tonight RAVING about this dish. LOVED it, said it was the best breakfast he has had in years. I followed the recipe as written, except the marinated artichoke hearts rather than plain, and used dried thyme instead of fresh (it is winter and fresh herbs are pricey and sad looking at my stores!) Anyway, if someone wants a super easy breakfast that is really different, give this a try! |

Hmm, I think all the books have mostly regular foods and desserts are not the biggest number of recipes. Probably volume 2 has fewer desserts as Maria Emmerich didn't share many in that volume.
Ohiocat, you're doing so very well on your diet. I am impressed. Carolyn's breakfast recipe sounds special the way you describe it. Thanks for sharing. |

Ohiocat, thank you on behalf of all the authors.
Sherry, keep me posted. Hopefully, when we switch coil bound to Amazon, this will never be a problem again. |

I agree with you, Jennifer, that it's good to start with vol 1 and work your way up. I still don't have Vol. 3 yet, but I'll get it eventually. At Thanksgiving time my kids cleaned up my house and I couldn't find my first two cookbooks. I went nuts looking for them, because I use them all the time. I finally just reordered them in desperation. Of course a few days after the replacement copies arrived, I found the first two. I will never lose them again because I have a back up set!

Jennifer, thanks for a good giggle.
That's a funny story and makes me feel good that you enjoy the books that much. It's great to have back ups. I do too. I am a bit heavy on cookbooks.Diwitch, I think one gets a break on the shipping. Yum, Pat, that does sound good for breakfast! |

Well I had almost given up on finding a turkey burger recipe I like (I love them in certain restaurants, but could never get one to turn out at home) until I tried Lisa Marshall's Turkey, Spinach and Feta Burgers in volume 1, page 238. They were great, better than my favorite at my favorite restaurant.

Sligh and Jennifer, happy you enjoy those burgers. They sound so unusual and something I've never made, so definitely on my list of things to try. Thanks for sharing.
Do you know Lisa and family have a wedding this weekend. One of her sons is getting married. |

I know I am late to this party, but I have bought my first cookbook in this series, the first volume and am excited to get it home. I hope it ships fast. Says it is coming from FL and I live quite close. I cannot wait to start making some of the recipes!!! Yay me!!! Today is my DH's birthday and I got a present......for me LOL. But seeing as I cook for the whole family it will benefit us all.

I know what you mean, sometimes it takes a long time to get through threads, so much good information is provided by everyone. I still love going through the cookbook and there are still many recipes that I want to try. I have a lot of cookbooks and I've saved tons of recipes to folders but the 3 LCAF cookbooks sit right on my countertop! So many recipes, so little time!

Aaw, so happy to see this thread resurrected! Tweaker, thanks, you are a sweetheart. I'm so happy you like the LCAF's cookbooks. You guys are the reason they are as successful as what they are!
I'd love to see folks try recipes from the other cookbooks, vol. 2 and 3 as well. Funny how volume 1 was the most popular, however, volume 2 is catching up! Dawnyama - have fun with your cookbook! Let us know if you find something you really like or whatever. Thanks, Tilly. I was just wondering the other day about you and how you are? |
