I have never experienced hard polyd, but the first thing to come in my mind is to heat it up in the microwave for a few seconds?
Or, like brown sugar, put a piece of bread in it, maybe it will take some of the moisture and soften up?
what about using one of those microplane graters on it and see if you can shave some granules off?
I hope this helps.

Thanks ya'll. I'll try the bread. I don't think it's grateable, but that's a good idea. It's as hard as a rock. lol

If all else fails, maybe I can use it for a bowling ball or a door stop. ROFL

Would it melt? Then you could make a polyD syrup.

If the bread doesn't work, I'll try beating it and then melting it and then I might have to give up on it. Too bad it's a 5lb bag too.

When that happens to me, I heat it up in a small saucepan on the stove. It turns into liquid, and you can use it in recipes.

What Soobee said.
Mine did the same thing, I just put a little water with it... hot water, until it melted. The result was a thick, karoish, light gold syrup. I still use it occasionally.

Mine did the same thing. I did what Dottie said - beat it to death. It did work though.

I put some in my coffee grinder that was lumpy. It worked to break it up, I had to wipe out the grinder because the polyd left it sticky.

I wonder how "not" to have it get hard in the first place, any suggestions?
