Starbucks syrups, a success story

I was wandering around Vons (in the Safeway family) today picking up ingredients for the EPIC German Chocolate cheesecake I'm making for DH's birthday (story and recipe to come later this week) when I happened to stop by the Starbuck's stand in the store. The very nice young man asked me if I needed anything, and actually I did. I was looking for SF Caramel Davinci's in the store, which they didn't have (and they were out a WalMart, too, the store is in mid-remodel turning into a mini-supercenter as they all are around here), so I asked him if they had SF Caramel syrup. He said they did. I asked if they sell it to the public, he said the did. And he proceeded to ring me up for a HUGE bottle of it for $6! It made my day, and my recipe... and many coffees to come.

Sometimes I hate living in a provincial town, probably the only one that Starbucks haven't conquered yet. But I'm happy for your find!

Good to know-- I just noticed our Target has a Starbucks in it now...I'll ask them about the SF syrup...All I can find around here is Torani syrup at WalMart--and it's a small bottle for $5.00... Thanks for the tip!

The SF cinnamon dolce syrup they have is excellent too, I have a couple bottles of it.

Not ALL Starbucks are the same - we have half a dozen around here, I've asked for the syrups in several of them and gotten everything from a totally blank look to a happy "Sure!" but the price has varied as well.

I work at one and just bought the SF Cinnamon Dulce. I love it!! I paid $6.95 for my bottle. I did ask my manager if I could have it though. And when a customer asks for a bottle I take their name/number and ask the manager first. So if you want a bottle, then make sure to ask THE MANAGER!! At my kiosk we will to the public, however we have to make sure we have enough of it to risk it. If we run out of product to sell IN our drinks, then we lose money!!!

Totally reasonable. Thanks for reminding us that things like this can vary from location to location, and person to person, depending on the circumstances.

Well, I see that my writing was not the best above!!! That sentence should read

"we will SELL to the public"

not we will to the public!!!! So sorry if I caused any confusion. Oh, and remember that if you are not satisfied with your local Starbucks please fill out a comment card. The only way they can bring forth a problem with an employee or particular location is if they are aware of one!!! I have seen people in my kiosk get fired from some customer comment cards---or at least get a stern talking to in order to correct a problem. They take their comment cards/customers seriously!
