Fruity Granita

I found this in a magazine at a doctors office and thought about trying the lemonade one. The picture didnt come out... sorries! It kinda looks like sherbert in a scooped out orange half!!!! What do u all think?????

Fruity Granita

Take 1-1/4 cups water

Crystal Light Low Calorie Soft Drink Mix
Lemonade
1 bag (20 oz.) frozen strawberries

Then follow our 2 simple steps:
Dissolve contents of 1 tub Crystal Light Drink Mix in 1-1/4 cups water.
Pour half of the Crystal Light mixture and half of the fruit into blender container; cover. Blend until smooth, stirring with spoon if necessary. Repeat with remaining fruit and liquid.

Makes 5 to 7 servings, 1/2 cup each, depending on which fruit is used.

Special Extra:
For an extra special look, cut 3 oranges in half. Using the tip of the vegetable peeler or small knife, scoop the pulp out of each orange half. Evenly divide granita into orange halves.

Nutrition Bonus:
This frozen treat is a refreshing source of fruit and a good calcium source from the CRYSTAL LIGHT Drink Mix. Carb Choices: 1

One tip is to scrape the granita with a fork when it is soft frozen and do this every so often-fluffs it up and stops it from becoming one giant frozen block.

You've never eaten a strawberry? They are very good. You have lc'd before so are you not aware of what foods to eat? I can recommend a very good book for you to read about lc-it explains it and is a very fun read. It's "Livinng The Low Carb Life" by Jonny Bowden and it goes over many lc plans or woe's too.

what i meant not everyday this time around... yes i have eaten a strawberry lol and the other day i had two but i didnt know if this early on it would cause a stall with all the natural sugars and all.. or maybe cravings. unsure about it on a daily basis and if it would slow the weight loss down. just wanted to see what u thought thats all. yes i have done lc many times. i always had listened to others negativity and didnt stick with it but not letting that happen this time around! thanks 4 the recommendation on the book. i might read it just because since its a fun read! i do love to read. thanks!

ps i was asking what the fruit granitas taste like not the strawberries! lol

He really makes it enjoyable and interesting-he has a website also. It's YMMV with any new addition to your woe-just practice moderation and see how it goes. It sounds like a very good low cal low carb option for the summer heat.

I think I will try it because my kitchen gets so hot when I cook during the summer time.... blah! So I pretty much try to stick to cooking simple things or pick a day to cook out and prepare at least some of my main courses for the week. We don't have central heat and air just simple window units and not one in the kitchen. We need it there more than anywhere lol...

a good calcium source from the CRYSTAL LIGHT
I think this sounds delicous... BUT, crystal light has NO calcium! where on earth did they get this from!??

I make something similar by just putting frozen strawberries in the blender with lemon juice, water, and sweetner.

Look at the bag of your frozen strawberries for the carb count. Remember that granular Splenda has 24 carbs in a cup. I would just go with your original recipe.

thats kinda what i was thinking. and i think i will only make it in one serving sizes because i have major portion control issues still. i will have to figure that out exactly. that is something i really need to work on for a little while longer. if i have cottage cheese then i usually eat too much of that too. but hey at least that is low carb and low calorie right? lol i think it says 0 carbs on the crystal light but i think that you are suppose to count each serving size as one carb. right? or do you not do that? what do you think lisa? i dunno anyways just wondering what u thought. tee hee...

I understand I have portion control issues too. Making it in individual servings sounds great-I would just count the carbs from the strawberries and the Splenda.

omg omg omg it was soooooooooooo good and felt like i was going off plan big time!!!! it was better than anything i could have eaten off of plan that is for sure! it was only five carbs! i measured out the strawberries and no sweetener but it was a little thin but still delicious! and the crystal light no carbs so total 5 carbs and filled me up! i am glad that i only made one serving because i would've eaten a hell of a lot more even though it filled me up!!!!
