Wow - I'm so happy!

I found the Flax Cracker recipe and I just tried it - and it's great!!! I used mine as chips, and ate them with salsa, sour cream, and cheese!!

That was always one of the things I missed most -- crunchy snacks like chips and crackers. I will be eating these every day!! I can't wait to make them tomorrow and eat them as crackers with cheese!

For those that don't already know -- they're so easy to make! Just mix equal amounts of flax meal and water (I used about 3 Tbs of each), and add whatever spices you want (I used chili powder, cumin, and garlic powder to make them taste Mexican).

Then, pat it thin on a piece of parchment paper, in a circle. Mine ended up being about 4" x 4". Microwave for 2-3 minutes on high - and that's it! It comes out crispy, just like chips! I broke mine into chip-sized pieces.

Yeah

That is WHAT I miss to. I am going to have to try those. Not til Feb though. I am going to do this month with no extras just regular whole foods. BUT the crunch and scoop things are what I miss most. Where did you get the recipe from.

I found them on Cleochatra's site! It's wonderful! I started out looking at the Italian Nachos and went through all the other recipes. Here's a link: The Lighter Side of Low-Carb: Italian low carb nachos recipe

I'm going to try these again, now that I got my netrition order with the golden flaxseed. 'fraid I threw the ones out that I made with the regular flaxseed. Tasted like I was eating dry grass.
I miss crunchy stuff too!

Made these a couple of times. They have a nasty fish taste to me. Wish I liked them.

Yes, these crackers are wonderful.

The flax pretty much nets out to zero carbs, but the spices really add up, so pay attention.

Really? These really don't have much of a taste - except for the spices I put in them. I made them again tonight, without all the spices and they just tasted kinda like Wasa crackers -- not much taste at all. I made mashed cauliflower (yum) and used it as a dip!

I love these crackers! They don't have much of a taste, but the "crunch" is very satisfying.

Cracker

Wow I was just really pleasantly surprised!!! I added some garlic salt and a little powdered cheese to mine because I was afraid of the taste. They were great!! I didn't like the other flax bread recipe's that I tried. Now I have crackers for my cheeseball and tuna salad ect. Thanks

Add parmesan cheese to cover the flax-fish taste if you don't like it.

Alternatively, leave out the parmesan, add splenda and cinnamon for faux graham crackers...you won't believe how much it tastes like graham crackers!

Thanks for the tip on the splenda and cinnamon. Graham Flax Crackers! I recently purchased Organic Golden Flax meal, I am loving that stuff.
