I have never taken a photography course and I don't even have a fancy camera....it's 4 years old, however, I am learning!

Here's what I have learned thus far:

Don't use flash
Natural light is best
Don't shoot in direct sunlight
Use a lightbox or screen
Learn how to use white balance on your camera
Use macro

This is what my light screen looks like.....two white foam boards, one with the inside cut out and then tissue paper taped over the opening. I have several different background colors which are just foam boards.

This is the recipe I used, heavily modified from two or three recipes that I found online. It is rich, sweet, tart, and smells sort of like apple butter while cooking! The cracker was a Dr. Kracker -- I make nut thins from this site with sesame seeds pressed in the top before baking, just didn't have any when I took this picture.

Sungold Tomato Jam
6 cups sungold tomatoes
3/4 cup Ideal Brown + a couple of drops of sweetzfree
6 whole cloves
2 sticks cinnamon
1 tbs aged balsamic vinegar + 1 tbs white vinegar
3 tbsp fresh lemon juice

Pulse the tomatoes briefly in a food processor until just barely broken up.
place spices in a small piece of cheesecloth or tea ball infuser with all other ingredients in a large pot and bring to a boil. Simmer, stirring frequently, for about 30-45 minutes until thick and jam-like. Ladle into sterilized jars and process for 15 minutes in a water bath.

I used cheesecloth for the spices, but next time will use a tea ball -- so much jam wound up in the cheesecloth and it was hard to squeeze it all out!

just going through these pages in glorious technicolor really puts me in a great frame of mind. i was very impressed with the sandwich cookies, and the pumpkin dessert.
