Bacon in Hamilton Beach Grill
I use a lot of bacon and hate cooking it. no matter what method I use it just seems to take so long and make a mess. I've been cooking it in the oven, but takes a long time to get it as crisp as I like. Started wondering if you could do it in a grill and I did. I cut the whole pk in half, you don't have to, but can get more in. It takes me about 10 min. to do the whole pk 5 min each half. Comes out really crispy, doesn't curl and you can pour out of the grease catcher easier than from the cookie sheet I used in the oven. Maybe someone has discovered this already, if so I missed it. I have a Hamilton Beach grill, and I did bacon in it once. It worked okay, but kind of splattered grease on the countertop. (Yes, I had the grill closed.
) I used the ridged grill plates, though. Did you, perhaps, use the smooth-surfaced plates? Maybe they work better. ![]() |

I used to do mine occasionally in the George Foreman grill, but could cook more, and faster, in the oven, so that's how I do it.
But hey if it works for you, that's great! I did use to line the drip pan with foil, which made cleanup very easy. |

Kisal, my grill only has the ridged plates and no, it didn't spatter at all. It took me over 30 minutes to bake it in the oven to get crispy. Cutting the bacon in half, no pieces overhung the plates all were inside, so don't know how it could spatter. Anyway, I've done it twice now and I love it. Ann

I'll have to try it again. I bought a bunch of bacon just the other day, intending to bake it in the oven. I'll use the grill, instead, and see if I get splatter this time. I could always spread a few paper towels on the counter, if need be, I guess.

Ann - just wanted to say a huge thank you for posting this. I just purchased a new contact grill and, because of your thread, decided to cook my bacon in the grill. Wow is all I can say - it cooked so fast, got crispy just the way I like it, and clean up was a total breeze! ![]() |
