Has my heavy cream gone bad?
I just open a new container of heavy cream and it poured out all lumpy. It reminded me of whip cream. The cream tasted and smells fine! Should I eat it or toss it?
Thanks. |

My rule is if it smells good and tastes good, eat it.
What is the expriation date? I had some heavy cream that expired on 9/09/09 and was unopened and I opened it yesterday, still good, tastes and smells fresh to me. |

TJ's organic cream can be VERY lumpy/clumpy when poured, because it has such a high butterfat content and it's just THICK.
If it smells good and tastes good - it's good! You'll KNOW when it's bad. That's the first thing I do every time I open the cream carton - give it a sniff. |

Thank you for the replies.
The cream's expiration date is November 3. I made jello treats for this afternoon so hopefully the cream was good. |

Yeah, lumpy cream is ok if it stills smells ok. I usually give my cream a shake before using it to break up any lumps (I get mine from a local dairy that doesn't homogenize and it's always lumpy).
