Black raspberries
I just got a bunch of black raspberries (not blackberries!) in my CSA share this week and am not sure what to do with them! Any ideas (besides eating them with some cream/splenda)? I'm afraid they're going to go back before we eat them all and am looking for a recipe that I could make that would use them up a bit... they are super good for you!!

I've frozen as few as just a handful, because its a very easy process. Put them on a cookie sheet in the freezer initially and let them freeze individually. Then once the individual berries are frozen, put them in a freezer bag. If you don't wanna do this initially, but see that some are starting to go bad, sort through them and do it then....(I always hate to see my produce die on my counter...LOL). Good luck...and most of all....ENJOY THEM! Dee |

not entirely sure what the difference is ... I believe black raspberries are just another variety of raspberry, whereas blackberries are an entirely different berry. black raspberries are smaller than regular raspberries (blackberries are larger). they are supposed to be very high in antioxidants (higher than blueberries).

I make my own jams with Pomona Universal pectin. It's so easy. I only make a batch at a time, so I don't bother to sterilize the bottles. I just cook them for a few minutes, and put them the jam fridge. I don't mind the seeds, but if you do, you can run the puree through a food mill or sieve. Black raspberries make terrifc jams.

First and foremost...just plain! I can't help myself but to eat as I pick.
My second favorite is to add a spoonful to my yogurt. Heavenly! Now, with my 5 year old around, it is difficult to keep any aside becuase she eats them all out of the container!! |

black raspberry LC ice cream. Or you could cook some of them down, strain them, then add the blackberry syrup to a glass and add sparkling water and ice.

This was the first thing that came to my mind:
![]() Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes You could make a quick jam by boiling down your black raspberries with a little sugar sub. Yum! ![]() |
