Simple DaVinci Truffles
Simple DaVinci Truffles
Ingredients 11 oz dark or semisweet chocolate, chopped 2 oz (4 tablespoons) butter, diced 1/4 cup Da Vinci Gourmet syrup (sugarfree of course!) Directions Place all of the ingredients in a large, microwave proof bowl. Microwave on high one minute and stir well. If the mixture is not smooth, continue to microwave and stir in short burst until the truffle mixture is smooth and glossy. Chill for 2 hours or until the consistency of fudge and then roll into 1-inch balls. Roll truffles in desired decorations and store in the refrigerator for up to one month or at room temperature for 5 days. Yield 18 1-inch truffles This is from the DaVinci website - I added the "sugarfree" part! ;) You could roll these in cocoa powder, crushed nuts, unsweetened coconut.... I haven't tried them yet but how could it be BAD?! You could use any flavor of syrup that strikes your fancy - hazelnut, Peppermint Paddy, Kahlua, coconut, whatever! If anybody tries this before I do please post results and pictures! |
I love you.

I wonder how many carbs the semisweet chocolate ends up being.
|
Not sure, Lauren - I don't have any here right now to check.
I'd use dark or bittersweet myself. These are definitely NOT for induction or the lower rungs of Atkins though! ;) Melissa - I  you too! ;) |
I'd like to try this also but adjust all amounts to go with 1 Lindt 85% bar. I'll have to try and figure out the right amount of butter & syrup. This way I'd have better portion control :)
|
This sounds awesome--and so simple! Can you get Lindt bars anywhere other than Netrition?
|
You can get the Lindt bars at Walmart, Target, CVS, Walgreens that are just a few that I can think of :)
|
By the way I just checked & Netrition no longer carries the Lindt 85% :( Good thing it's available locally.

According to MasterCook bittersweet has 3.66 carbs/oz. which would equal 2.2 carbs/ea Semisweet has 16.3 carbs/oz which would equal 10 carbs/ea. |
And it looks like the Lindt brand has around 9 per oz. That's just from skimming the internet. Can anyone verify that?
|
I  you too.

This is a bit off topic, but I wanted to share my find at Trader Joe's yesterday and since were talking chocolate here...... They now have an 8 oz unsweetened Belgium chocolate bar for only $2.99! It's 100% chocolate liquour.
|
Ooh Charkski! Those sound soo good  I may have to try to make these, but I only have peppermint davinci's, how do you think that flavor would be? I'm dying to try this today. I'm gonna use the 72% ghard's chips I have in freezer
|
yes....they are chilling in the fridge as we speak. That's exactly what I did with my lunch hour.

Charski, I made'em! They taste great, rolled some in coconut, some in a mix of cocoa/ground almonds. But, my little guys don't look so pretty as I think I tried to roll them too quickly LOL . But they taste really good. Nice texture too.
|
wow!!:D:D
|
OK...when they say chill a couple hours, they don't mean 4-6 hours. LOL. My mixture was hard as a rock. It's sitting on the counter right now and it's slowly getting to the point that I will be able to "roll" them out.
But the batter tasted good. |
WooHoo! I'm glad you ladies have given them a try.
Now how 'bout some PICTURES?! ;) |
