Storing New Products
Hello Everyone I'm new here and I've been lurking in the shadows for awhile and I've picked up a few new products and have made some wonderful things from here. My question is how should I store my Almond Flour, Zanthun Gum, Coconut flour and Erythritol? Thank you and have a wonderful day all.

the gum and the erythritol need to be DRY....they'll clump. I stick the flours in the freezer becuase I don't use them so fast.

![]() What she said Nut flours can get rancid relatively quickly if not kept in the freezer or refrigerator, but I keep all flours in the freezer including regular all purpose flour. |

I keep my xanthan gum in the freezer too, in an old spice bottle with a shaker top... hasn't clumped yet.

I'm a newbie also. I would love to try some recipes with almond and/or coconut flour.
Can anyone tell me the cheapest place to buy these flours. I already checked all my grocers with no success |

Please try this site:Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Recipes This is LindaSue's site (she's one of our local genius cooks) and she uses a lot of almond flour. Also don't be afraid to order from Netrition (link at top of page). They charge 4.95 for shipping no matter how big your order is and they're fast and trustworthy. You'll learn a lot from the people on this site. Good luck! (If you click on the blue words they will take you to Netrition) Last edited by jlatislaw; 01-28-2009 at 05:18 AM.. |

Thanks for helping. I started a very low carb diet last Feb. My goal was 30 pounds and anything else would be "gravy". I have been up and down and still 5 ponds away from my goal.
Got tired of the same old stuff and then I found this forum Thanks so much............ I tried the cauliflower pizza. All I can say is WOW........ Oopsies are next on my list until I can get some flour. I'll order some...Thanks I DID order some but have to wait a bit...Coconut flour out of stock for a few days. Who ordered all the flour...LOL Last edited by kootz; 01-28-2009 at 10:49 AM.. |

I store xanthum gum by adding dry white rice to it and keeping it on the shelf. The rice absorbs any moisture and keeps it from clumping. I also keep some in a salt shaker that is about 1/2 rice and half gum then sprinkle it into whatever I want to thicken.
