Shawna..............looks YUMMY! Always nice to hear, and see,
a success story Definitely add the nuts and chocolate next time, it adds to the whole banana split experience! The chocolate layer would be easy by just melting a couple squares of Lindt 85% chocolate bar and adding a little extra sweetener. Thanks for taking the time to post the pic. A picture is worth a thousand words (or more) Jill................you can still get the Quick Packs from the Splenda website, or you can replace the Quick Pack with liquid Splenda if you have it. Regular Splenda will work fine too, it will just add a few more carbs. Last edited by bobo36us; 12-07-2008 at 06:46 PM.. |

By the way ... Are there any particular 'staples' you find you use a lot from places like Netrition? I'm trying to get an inventory of stuff so I can start cooking some of y'all's fabulous goodies! |

I was told they were discontinued also. I was at Big Lots and they were .10 cents a pack I bought them all. Like 200 of them. |

Thanks. Big Lots is usually where discontinued stuff ends up, right? I keep seeing "Quick Pack" in recipes and a) can't find it and b) don't know what to substitute for it!

Questions:
1) Want to make this for Xmas, but there are no quick packs avail and no time to order. What can I substitute? I have liquid sucralose, how much would I need to use in its place? Also you said stevia is one of the sweeteners is that liquid or granular? I will go look at the health food store for the other. 2) Why can't you just use granular splenda rather than the trio of sweeteners? Just curious 3) Has this dessert set off any cravings in anyone? The minute I have something sweet, boy oh boy the bad carb devil comes a knock knock knockin on my brain. Thank you Sammy |

Jeepers, so then liquid sucralose would be the better choice but what about the lack of bulk with that?

Sammy..............liquid Sucralose would actually be the best choice
for this recipe. I simply didn't have any when I made mine originally. As jlatislaw already mentioned, the regular baking Splenda would add an additional 21 carbs, so you definitely wouldn't want to do that. As far as the bulk, even if you did have a Quick Pack, it's total volume of powder is still less than a teaspoon of bulk, so substituting a few drops of liquid instead would be no big deal. Just check the label on your liquid Splenda, and see what the equivilant is for one cup of sugar. As far as the Stevia, powdered or liquid would be fine there also. Not sure if I mentioned it before or not, but powdered Erthritol will work better for you than granular Erythritol. Last edited by bobo36us; 12-10-2008 at 03:22 PM.. |

Ah perfect! Thank you very much! Now if you ever perfect a nanaimo bar recipe that tastes like the real deal....I'm moving in with you all! (wink)
Just went to splenda.com and I don't think they ship to Canada, that would suck, I couldn't find it in their FAQ, anyone know? Any other places to buy those little packs? Sammy Last edited by Disco Superfly; 12-10-2008 at 03:46 PM.. |

I made this for a church dinner, and Everyone loved it! I got great reviews for this one. I used xylitol and stevia though. It was delicious! Thanks so much for this recipe! My kids love it too, and I don't feel bad making it for them becasuse it is not loaded with sugar!
I also used pecans and almonds in my crust. I also used crushed pineapple because that was what I had. I turned out great! |

LadyN..............Glad to hear it turned out so well for you!
You are right, this is a perfect treat for the kids!!! I can't believe the crap people are feeding their kids these days....... processed sugary cerals for breakfast, fruit roll ups for snacks, Juice boxes whenever they feel like one, gold fish crackers, pop tarts, Happy Meals, etc. Needless to say it's all junk! Oh well, probably threads on here about that already There are some great sugar free desserts on here for kids though, and lots more on Laurens site. Has anyone had success freezing this recipe? I saw early on in the thread that people froze a piece for 20 min. or so to make it more ice cream-like, but I'm talking about freezing it for later thawing and eating. I know the crust and cheesecake layers would be fine. I wasn't sure about the whipped cream/fruit layers. I will probably try it anyway, since I have a lot left over from Easter. (I made a double batch.) It's yummy, but very rich, so a little piece is enough for me.

I'm making this for tomorrow night..I am baking the crust and the cheesecake layer, then will cool and refrigerate..Tomorrow I will add the fruit and the cream..I don't want the naners to be in there too low or they get funky..
I think I will add some sliced strawberries on the top with the chocolate and the walnuts... |

Well, it has bananas in it as well as pineapple..These are not on induction at all...It depends on your plan and how far on the carb ladder you are.
If you wanted to make this..make it when you are having company..have one piece and give the rest away.. |

ooooooh we are having a little grillin' get together tomorrow night - SO excited i have a "reason" to make this!!!!
![]() and higher-sugar fruits such as banana and pineapple - not sure if they're actually allowed come rung 7 (the higher-sugar fruits rung) but i've been eating them (sparingly - more pineapple than banana) since then...but it's NOT an every day thing. |

I always sprinkle chopped nuts on top, and I cut cherries into 6ths and sprinkle them over. Then the chocolate sauce. I have made this twice and everyone just loves it.
