this does sound awesome. i think i will try it with some vanilla protein powder and a lil bit of natural peanut butter. i started thinkin about the chocolate walden farms syrup in my fridge too, but i think a vanilla peanut butter chocolate pumpkin shake might be a little much. i actually bought a can of pumpkin at the grocery last weekend with the intention of getting on here and finding something to do with it since i had no plans but punpkin sounded good. this appears to be tried and true.

I'm drinking my shake now.......Used the original poster's recipe but couldn't find my flax, so used one TBS of psyllium husks instead. Tasty and filling.

Delicious!!! I had made a recipe of Jodie's Pumpkin Bake last week, but I added flax to it. The recipe is wonderful by itself without flax BTW. I didn't love the taste, so I froze it last night in snack size 1/2 servings. I got the idea to use it in this shake! Fabulous!!!! I used:
1 tbsp. heavy cream 2 tbsp. coconut milk 8oz. water 1/2 tsp. xanthum gum 1 scoop EAS whey protein( chocolate flavor) 1/2 serving Jodie's Pumpkin Bake(frozen) Blend all ingredients except frozen pumpkin. Add pumpkin, puls on ice crush until desired consistency. My shake had a couple little chunks of Pumpkin Bake in it! Yummo! Thanks for the inspiration!

I wonder, what's the shelf life of canned pumpkin? Saw Halloween costumes and decor in the stores at the mall yesterday. Sigh. So now we'll be deluged with holiday promotions through the end of the year. By the time an actual holiday rolls around anymore, I'm sick of it. Pumpkin shakes and Jody's Pumpkin Bake, those are a different story. Let the squash season begin! |

this really hit the spot today! I was looking for a way to use up some leftover canned pumpkin I had in frig.
FF, Jody's Pumpkin Bake is my favorite pumpkin recipe since I started LC'bing ![]() I skipped the flax addition also for this shake. and I used some water with just a dash of 1/2 and 1/2. Ok, I'm done editing now lol Last edited by 24Fan; 08-23-2010 at 11:13 AM.. |

I love pumpkin so much but it does bring on cravings for me. I'm kind of glad it's difficult to find this year (again). Once warm weather starts I want pumpkin pie!
This shake is a much healthier alternative though |

When I put it in my pantry I arranged the cans with the ones that expired first near the front. I've used about half of what I bought. I have 13 cans left on the shelf and the first one in line has on it "Best used by May 20, 2011." So I'd guess that the shelf life is at least two years. And most canned goods are still good a year or more after the date printed on the can as long as they're kept in a fairly cool place.

I forgot to mention this in my earlier post.
I followed the recipe (as outlined by bobo36us) except that instead of an egg I used Egg Beaters and added ground cinnamon. Just wonderful and delicious. Nikki |

Looks like it's time to buy more pumpkin. I had almost forgotten about the pumpkin shake. It is delicious !! Looking forward to fall. I love making soups in the colder months.
