Anyone with a LC/LowCal hot chocolate recipe?

When I did WW, I used to have a hot chocolate at night and it really hit the spot.....it was a light version of these store bought ones.

I don't have any here and I suspect they might be high carbwise, so I'm wondering if anyone has a recipe......

I googled and came up with recipes, but they have a lot of cream in them, I'm sure they taste good with all that cream...but I want to watch my calories too...

thanks

I usually make my own mix with 100% unsweetened cocoa powder, a little splenda or other sweetener (Davinci's syrups, etc.) and water and/or heavy cream (depends on how rich I want it).

Tastes as good or better than any mix I've found.

Homemade all the way. Cocoa or unsweetened chocolate, cream or half and half, almond milk sometimes, water perhaps, few drops of stevia. Whisk the living daylights out of it. Delicious!

Charski has a great one that I make, using unsweetened chocolate, almond breeze and 2 tb cream. That's what I usually make although when my baking choc is gone I'm going to experiment with cocoa powder, which has less carbs.

The Davinci syrups would open different combinations..

It's really easy to make from scratch! Just use unsweetened or 85% chocolate chopped up, along with unsweetened Almond Breeze (40 calories per cup) or half and half or cream and erythritol to taste. The melted chocolate gives it a richnesss\ that cocoa powder can't match, although the cocoa powder is lower in calories. A bit of vanilla extract, almond extract, or even a few shakes of cinnamon are yummy flavor accents.

i agree with the chopped up chocolate! it would be interesting to try with coconut milk - like melted mounds in a cup. i love cinnamon in my hot chocolate and sometimes i even make it a little spicy - aztec style.

Try mixing a Tbs of raw cacao and a Tbs of espresso crystals with a scoop or two of WPP (whey protein powder) and 16oz of hot water, then add a few Tbs of VCO to bring the fat level up. Yummy way to start the day. Not a bad nightcap either. Sometimes I add a slurp of DaVinci B-52 sf syrup (Bailey's, Grand Marnier, Kahlua) for an interesting change of pace.

What if you maybe found a LC protein shake mix in chocolate and mix that with water and just a small amount of cream? I've never tried it, just an idea!

I think heat kills the quality of some protein powders...but worth looking into.

Ditto. This is wonderful plus you control what sweetener is used.

I have made it with coconut milk quite often. It makes good hot chocolate. But for me, I don't really notice the coconut flavor. No mounds flavor in it for me. But then, I don't seem to notice the coconut flavor very strong in very many things. I made chocolate bark once, and added coconut cream concentrate, and I could barely taste the coconut. My DH tasted it & said he could really taste the coconut. Sooooo, you might just have that mounds hot chocolate if you made it. (And I love mounds --- haven't had one in years tho now.)

I use 1/2 pack of the Swiss Miss to cut down on the carbs, and supplement with some Walden's chocolate syrup (no carbs/cals) to make up the difference. Add a splash of Almond Milk if you need it and you still come in at only 25 cals, with only 2 carbs.
