Carbquik Question
Hey Everyone!!!
I finally found a website with decent prices to order carbquik. It should be here tom. I don't plan on using it until i get further along in my weightloss. But anyway.....I was wondering if it causes problems for some people. Thanks |

It tastes awful-has a nasty twangy taste to it. My family won't eat anything made with it.

If you add a little vanilla it really masks the taste. I don't personally find it objectionable, so it's probably a ymmv kind of thing. Also, any strong flavors will mask it (garlic, etc.)

I used to use it a couple of years ago. We liked it. It does take a little getting used to but it worked well in recipes. I think we'll be ordering it again. I don't remember it causing a stall. hth's

If you sift out the shortening the flavor is much better. I am a terrible baker so I don't use it for anything other than pancakes. I haven't had any problems.

My kids sometimes turn their noses up at things I make, but they love chicken strips fried with carb quick. Fish is good too. I use it quite often and it doesn't bother me.

i have been making single serve choco-chip bars/cookies with the following:
2T CQ 2T flax meal 2T flavored davinci's of choice (caramel is my FAV) dollop of butter (softened) 1T sugar free choc chips mix all together form into cookie shape, nuke for 45-60 sec depending on the strength of your microwave. very yummy and calms a cookie craving quite nicely! |

anyone else a diabetic on insulin who has used carbquik? I am finding it hard to believe its only "2 net carbs". Because of my insulin I sort of need to know how many carbs it really is. Lists all kinds of wheat so it makes me wary. Am debating just counting the entire ten carbs instead of two. I think I will do an experiment tomorrow. Make some biscuits eat some one see how much my blood sugar raises. Wish me luck
