What to do with a frozen lobster?
I love lobster tail -- but around here at least, it is soooooo expensive.
I can buy a whole lobster frozen though...so how do I cook a whole frozen lobster? I know how to cook a tail, but what else is good to eat in a lobster and how you cook it? (And on a creepy note - do they kill it before they freeze it - or could it start moving when it thaws? )Thanks! |

Thanks! This was so cute!!!! It is definitely dead, not in some sort of "suspended state".. Go to the net for advice, I agree. Fresh may be different than cooking a frozen one. Basically, it's a big pot with some water in the bottom. My dad would put a weight on the top of the lid so they couldn't escape................... I love lobster..Be sure to eat every part..the little legs, in between the ribs as well as the tail and the claws... Fresh lobster is the best, of course, but let us know how the frozen one is.

I'm not positive I'd like a frozen lobster (I found I don't like the lobster tails at Red Lobster and they are frozen), but I can definitely eat a whole fresh Maine lobster!!!!! Yummmmmm!!!!!

I once ate a 3 lbs steamed Maine lobster . . . all by myself, and loved every dip in the butter: tail, claws, etc. Yum

Use a nut cracker, hammer (gently, wrap the head in a towel), back of a knife. The nut cracker works best. Do it after cooking. Never done it before cooking.

Are you sure it wasn't cooked before freezing and only needs to be heated? I know they cook crab legs before freezing and you only have to reheat them. If it has been cooked previous to freezing and you try to cook it again it will be rubbery. I've never seen a frozen whole lobster. Just the lobster tails.
