Guacamole is the easiest thing in the world to make. I don't know quantities as I just sort of throw stuff in there & keep adding stuff until it tastes good to me, but generally here is what I use in mine (I like mine chunky).
Diced onion diced fresh tomatoes (seeded) Minced fresh garlic chopped fresh cilantro (gotta have this!) powdered cumin salt fresh pepper lime juice and of course...avocadoes! To easily process an avocado slice it in half from long end to long end. Take you knife and whack it down into the seed. Twist 90 degrees and it will pop right out if the avocado. Now you can just scoop out the meat with a spoon and then mash it wish a fork. The lime juice is important - it's what keeps it from turning brown overnight. |

I'll go ahead and post mine, but I've had some odd comments from people about the mayo.
1 avocado mashed 1 tb mayo garlic salt to taste 1 tb lime juice (very important to preserve color) mix all together. I eat mine with pork rinds. In fact I've had this for lunch every day this week. So yummy!!! |

Oh and if you like it spicy, add a dash of jalapeno sauce to it.

To cube my avocados, I slice it in half longwise, use the knife to whack into the seed then remove it, and then I slice horizontally and vertically while the flesh is still in the skin. You can make it as big or small as you like. Then scoop the whole half out and into your bowl.
Got this from a Mexican restaurant from a man who made fresh guacamole at the table. |

I love guacamole..The best way to keep the color, in addition to adding the citrus juice, is to have the Saran wrap touching the guacamole, so no air can get at it.

mine is very easy
avocados diced onion (or not) garlic powder sour cream salsa I used my magic bullet last time and it was awesome. I usually didn't add the diced onion but it made it very good this last time. I just mix to taste don't really use much salsa or sour cream at all just enough to make it creamy. Also just a bit of garlic powder. lol sorry no real recipe its just what I throw together but its awesome. oh yes and lemon or lime juice if you want to keep it from turning brown. I read somewhere that if you put the pit in the container with the guacamole, it'll help keep it from turning brown. I haven't had a chance to try it yet though.
BTW, I've been lurking around for a couple of weeks and I just wanted you all to know what an inspiration you've all been. The information and support I've seen is just awesome!! I am really glad I found this place!! |

Thanks guys! They all sound yummy.
![]() I don't think we have store salsa here in SA, so making my own would require tomato, onion, cilantro and chilli~right? If making it into a dip, would I use cream cheese, sour cream or FF cottage cheese? |

You know..I love the taste of the avocado and never add anything but a bit of finely chopped onion and mayo and lemon juice. The other alternative would be sour cream.
I wouldn't add cottage cheese or cream cheese. |

I made it and just had some with my dinner
1 small Avo, lime juice, freshly minced garlic, fresh chopped coriander, finely chopped onion, teaspoonful jalapeno peppers, hint of ground cumin, salt to taste. Chilled it for a bit too. It went down very well. I'm excited about this new taste adventure and will be trying the other variations suggested, as the days go by! ![]() Thanks again guys! |

This is my recipe too, except we don't add jalapeno and I do add a little mayo to mine. I love to keep the tomatoes chunky and make sure one of the avocados is cut into bigger pieces....yummy!

My poor mommy would smack my Mexican butt if she knew that I add store bought salsa (Mexican brand if possible) to a few mashed avocados + lime juice to get the best guac ever! Then again, my mom still makes homemade tortillas-- of course, I buy mine from Wal-Mart
