Capella's Flavor Drop Recipes

Starting this thread for those using the drops to share what they use them in, what works and what doesn't work.
If you haven't heard of these, they are a highly concentrated flavor drop that contains no sugar or sweetners and have 0 carbs. \
I just got my order today. I got:
Root Beer Float
Cinnamon Sticky Bun
French Toast
Chocolate Strwaberry
Hazelnut
Orange Creamsicle
Strawberry Cheesecake
Banana (even though I ordered banana cream)
Capella's Fall Harvest
Pumpkin Pie

I put the Pumpkin Pie in my coffee and it's pretty good! I am making an egg cream and am using blueberry. I will drink it on the way to work so I will let you know tonight how it tasted.

I haven't received mine yet but i'm going to try to use the banana flavor in my one minute muffin. Most of the others i'll use for my protein shakes...and coffee of course. I hope they are good....

I got some fruity flavorings back when I began LC'ing and I do not know how to use them. Might discover some ways to make use of them as you pursue this thread. Mine are not (probably) this brand name, but are fragrant exotic fruit flavors that might well add to a summer's refreshing drink. That's about all I've used them for. And I have a rootbeer in the fridge that is too sweet for me; it lacks the bite that is apparently what I love about rootbeer. Not at all sure how I shall use it up. What can I mix it with to get that BITE? Maybe sf quinine water? I love the bitterness of tonic. Might be that will be a treat for a hot summer's day, adding a drop or two of rootbeer flavor to that. Or not.

Just hate wasting the LC stuff that I bought a year or more ago, to help - and then did not find it at all useful. More and more I'm finding myself leaning toward organic and toward Fawn's resolve to stay with basic foods, fresh foods. (Well, except for tinned fish that seems to save me from eating nasty mystery fish from far-off places.)

At any rate, I'm signing on to discover ways to use up a lifetime supply of fruity flavors in tiny bottles of concentrated scents that fill my room with a Juicyfruit ambience.

The blueberry was good but could have used more. I thought I was only supposed to use 1 drop per 8 oz but it's 3-5 per 8oz. So the actual amt. I should have used would have been great!
Using hazlenut in my coffee this morning.

I'm thinkin about ordering some of this----I'm addicted to Davinci's SF syrups--does anyone think that it's a good deal and are the flavors as good as Davinci's?

Thanks

Seems to me that the capellas, when added say, to oopsie batter wouln't alter the consistency of the batter. I have used davinci pancake in my oopsie batter to make my own version of breakfast mcgriddles. I have had to add whey powder then also. I am gonna get some and try it with and without the whey powder. Sometimes that stuff can get to be pricey.

I just made Lindas cream cheese clouds. Used Strawberry Cheesecake flavor in it. I will say the mix before freezing gets a 2 thumbs up!!
And that's w/o letting the flavor sit for a few minutes like the reccomend.I used about 20 drops.
I will have to try banana, orange and blueberry soon!

Wow what are cream cheese clouds? sounds heavenly...

I have to say, not that I have anything against Divinchis but I like these better they seem to have truer flavors and are definitely cheaper, different flavors and excellent fast service..

These don't have any sweetness to them though. You still need to use something.

Jenna, when you get your order and have had a chance to taste the flavors, please report. I'm always looking for flavoring agents but I have been disappointed in so many things that I am now hesitant to try anything new. Just don't want to dump any more inexpensive things down the drain...

Thanks, Ginny

Ginny:

I've had the Capella drops around my kitchen for over a year and like many of the syrups and flavorings from other sources (DaVinci, Monin, Toranni, Nature's Flavors, LorAnn, etc.) they are not consistently great across all flavors. I will say that after trying coconut extracts and syrups from all the usual players (Watkins, LorAnn, Davinci, etc) I can give a big "thumbs up" to the coconut flavor from Capella -- stronger, non-alcohol flavor than others and holds up better in baking.

Retroworx, by chance have you tried (say in about the past year) the water based versions of these Nature's Flavors?

(I ask because I have found these very good in the past but more recently ordered the oil based versions from Natures Flavors, and they were poor to awful. Thanks.)

Thanks, Retroworx and JJ. I am particularly interested in fruit flavors of all kinds, caramel, and butterscotch. If anyone has an opinion on these in the Capella line, please post.

Thanks, Ginny

Does anyone want to post their tried and true flavors? So far I've seen positive reviews of the following:

coconut
banana cream
boston creme pie
strawberry cheesecake

Any more to add? Any duds in the batch?

I just ate 1 c. Fage yogurt with 2tbsp. Kool-Whip and 10 drops of Capella NY Cheese Cake and 3/4 cup of thawed raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and blackberries. It was so good.

I tried 6 drops and let it sit 5 minutes, it needed 4 more drops and a few more minutes and it really did taste like cheesecake. But this yogurt has a very strong, tart flavor, a less potent ingredient (like cream cheese) would probably not require so many drops.

So I had bought the French toast and afterwards wondered why but its turning out to be my favorite well next to pistachio or banana and oh yeah grandmas apple pie was pretty darned good too..I have noticed they are inconsistent in the amounts you use or maybe its what you use them in...Anyone know whats the difference in French vanilla and regular vanilla???Some of them I have just used in iced coffee which has so many different tastes in it but the double chocolate, and French vanilla made wonderful coffee....

I used 10 drops each of French Toast and Vanilla Almond, 2tbsps. of almond flour and 1tbsp. of sugar for a double batch of Oopsies. They smell great cooking!

It really depends on the flavor.
french toast: propylene glycol, water and natural flavor
egg nog: nat& artifical flavors, prop. glycol, alcohol, water and/or caramel color
rootbeer float and cinn sticky bun also have citric acid in them.

The propylene glycol bothers me so I won't be ordering this product. Why consciously give up aspartame and then ingest another chemical in its place? I don't eat organic but I am trying to cut down on my processed foods a bit. Has anyone ordered from the Natures Flavors site? The only downside I see is that you have to order in bulk.
